Misko Migisi Ikwe (Red Eagle Woman)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, baby sister, aunt and friend, Penny.
Penny leaves to mourn the loves of her life, her sons, Dan (Trish), Aaron, Craig Shawn (Andrea), and Johnny; grandchildren, Alexis, Julia, Abriana, Luther, Jai, Jayden, Doralynn, Kyla and Emily; her twin sister Theresa (Irvin), sisters, Joyce, Audrey (David), Valerie (Guy), Velma (Brian), Tracy (Larry), Helen, her brother Dean, her aunts, Mary Courchene, Margaret Lavallee, Ruth Norton and Therese Swampy, her best friend Karen Young, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Penny was predeceased by her parents, Alphonse and Dora Courchene, stepdad Guy Lafrance, sisters, Laura (Brian Chikowski), Shirley (Gerald Morgan), nephews, Guy J. Pereux and Justin Pereux and niece Shawna Henderson.
Penny was born October 9, 1962 along with her twin sister Theresa at the Pine Falls Indian hospital. She passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, March 19, 2022. Penny lived life to the fullest; she was a free spirit and loved to travel. She was one of the most kindest and generous, gentlest person who would help anyone in need. Once you met her, she would be your lifelong friend.
Penny followed the Traditional way of the Anishinabe, she was a Sundancer and enjoyed attending Sweat Lodges.
The Wake is being held from March 23 to 26, 2022 at the Turtle Lodge, Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba. The funeral service will be held March 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at the Turtle Lodge, burial at the Notre Dame du Laus Cemetery in Powerview/Pine Falls, Manitoba.
