ARTHUR ROBERT WRIGHTSON
Arthur Robert Wrightson, 81, passed away on March 12, 2022, in Winnipeg, MB, after a long battle with poor health.
Art is survived by his daughter Carolyn and her husband Hans, son Robert and wife Sharlene, along with Carolyn and Rob's mom Roberta. There are also eight grandchildren: Carolyn and Hans (Christopher, Micheal, Jennifer, Meaghan) and Rob and Sharlene (Victoria, Natalie, Natasha, Mackenzie) lastly two great-grandchildren.
Art is also survived by his sister Margaret and her husband Lester, but sadly lost his two brothers, Dennis with wife Leslie and Syd with wife Jean. Art is survived also by his nieces and nephews: Syd's children, Kathy, Kevin and Keith and Dennis's, Adrienne and Michael.
Also a special Thank you to Caroline for the many hours of care and support she extended to Art over the last few years of his life.
Born to Olive and Harry Wrightson in Kelwood, Manitoba, Art grew up on the family farm, went to Roskeen, Kelwood and Riding Mountain schools. At 17, he moved to Neepawa to start his first position with CIBC and then on to Winnipeg where he had a long and distinguished career, retiring after 43 years.
In his spare time he enjoyed sports whether it be playing baseball, curling or bowling, golf or watching hockey or car racing. Many hours were enjoyed watching his favourite Blue Jays!
The grandchildren all have one fond memory - lists - many lists made with every visit. All the best places to eat and often more restaurants than meal times to enjoy them! Regardless of the city, Art always found the best places to eat and everyone enjoyed the time with Grandpa testing them out.
At Art's request, there will be no memorial service at this time. His kids plan on disobeying him just one last time and are planning a Celebration of Life when his kids and grandkids can gather and make one last list in Art's memory.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local SPCA.
A heartfelt Thank You to Dr. A. Durcan and to all staff at Donwood Manor for caring for Art over his last years and months.

I remember Art from the credit room high up in the Richardson building at the corner of Portage & Main in downtown Winnipeg. I was a credit officer there training under him in his position as an assistant inspector of credit. He was a patient trainer who educated me well enough to be appointed as assistant manager at the Fort Frances branch. It was there that my career at CIBC came to an end as I was able, thanks to his patient training, to pursue a higher career in finance eventually ending up in Toronto and Ottawa. Rest in peace, Art. - Posted by: Kenneth Hibbert (Co-worker at CIBC) on: Apr 23, 2022

Early in my career with CIBC Art provided much needed encouragement and unsolicited support to me during a difficult personal period in my life. Many years later, when I needed his help regarding a difficult customer/credit management situation , he was there for me once again. For me Art Wrightson will always be remembered for his quiet manner, keen analytical ability and more importantly for his personal caring and relationship skill My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. My favorite memory of Art was when I was filling in for my Manager & one of our Hutterite Colonies wanted a FIL. I had no clue how to begin & Art led me through the process with amazing patience. The customer got what they needed, even thought they didn't like having to deal with a woman, & the manager was grateful on his return from vacation as he wasn't familiar with the process either. I was one of many that benefitted from Art's skills. - Posted by: Ardelle Ross (co worker) on: Apr 01, 2022

Worked with Art several times over our careers. He was a very knowledgeable individual & a great mentor to so many of us in CIBC when it came to all things credit related. RIP friend & condolences to his family. - Posted by: Garth Nolan (Friend & co-worker) on: Mar 27, 2022

While we never worked together I have known Art for many years. He was truly a dedicated banker and always eager to help in the risk management end of commercial lending. While I would suggest that he was a man of few words they were well chosen with a good sense of humour in his own way. My condolences to the family and may he Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Barrie Marley (Long-time banker friend) on: Mar 26, 2022

During my entire career with CIBC Art was a friend and a mentor. He was always there to help and guide many lenders with his extensive knowledge coupled with remarkable patience. The crediting lessons many of us learned from Art assisted us in our development as successful bankers. Art was truly a fine man and was admired and respected by his peers. We will truly miss him. - Posted by: Jamie Berzuk (Friend and CIBC colleague ) on: Mar 26, 2022

Art could always be counted on for wise direction and guidance. He was a long-time banker who had probably "seen it all". I played baseball with him for many years and remember he was a pretty decent outfielder. Our condolences to his family. The world will be considerably less without Art. Kind regards.
