ROBERT LORNE ZAPARNIUK
On March 19, 2022, Rob Zaparniuk peacefully passed away, with his daughters by his side, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 64.
Rob was a well-respected civil litigator in Winnipeg for over 30 years, who regularly appeared in all Manitoba courts. He took great pride in aiding and advocating for his clients, often going above and beyond the call of duty to help anyone he could. Rob received his call to the bar in 1983, after an extensive curling, baseball, and crokinole career during his law school days. He organized the Bar Association's annual curling bonspiel for many years.
Rob's favourite place in the world was the Jones Road, where he loved to go camping and off-roading with family and friends. He loved spending time outdoors, from sitting on his deck looking at the forest to star gazing and teaching his daughters about constellations. Rob was a big animal lover, who enjoyed spending time with his "fur grandchildren", Toby and Rutsey. Rob was known for lighting up a room with his stories and kind-hearted spirit.
Rob will be deeply missed and remembered by his daughters, Kristin and Jenny; his mother, Helen; his brother and sister, Len (Angie) and Judy (Tony); his best friend, Garth (Carolyn); and so many friends and neighbours.
Cremation has taken place and private ceremonies for family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to D'Arcy's A.R.C. would be appreciated.
Dad, we will miss you more than words
can express. We are so proud to be
your daughters.

I was just walking down memory lane and wondered where Rob was working these days and found this instead. I am so sad. I was Rob’s first secretary, Heather Jones, he hired me in 1985 and I worked for him until 1990. I’m sure Smorang (as Rob called him) might remember my name. He was the best boss I ever had. We had lots of fun but we worked hard too (except Friday afternoons). I remember Sue brought Kristen (the oldest - if I have that mixed up Jenny forgive me!) to the office she had an appointment but a client showed up and in panic Rob asked me to watch her. It was only 10-15 minutes, but she cried for her daddy the whole time! We were both relieved when he walked back into his office. Girls I am so sorry for your loss. I’ll never forget his hearty laugh - he always had a smile on his face - even when he was mad! I have a million memories of those years, all GREAT. My husband also died last year so I know how your grief might feel. Take care - I’m thinking of you - he was always so proud of his girls. I only met Robert in the last 6 months or so, but he was always a joy to have around. Even if he was having a really rough day, he'd do what he could to make your day better. He will be missed. - Posted by: Andrew (Healthcare Provider/Friend) on: Mar 28, 2022

So sorry for your loss Kristen, Jenny, Helen and Len. Rob was always a wonderful friend to us. Even though the miles separated us our relationship flourished. He and Lawrence shared many laughs. Rob was so kind and thoughtful. When our son returned from Afghanistan he made a special trip out here to Calgary for the unit's welcome home party. That was appreciated more than he ever knew. Kristen and Jenny he was so proud of you. He will be so missed. - Posted by: Deborah Trochim (friend) on: Mar 26, 2022
