DARYL WAYNE MITCHELL
November 14, 1953 - March 27, 2022
After a hard fought battle with cancer, on March 27, 2022, at the Moncton Hospital, Daryl passed away at the age of 68.
He was predeceased by his father William.
Daryl will forever be remembered by his mother Norma; children, Tara (Jason), Garret (Sherri) and Justin; brother Geoff (Linda); sisters, Karna (Wayne) and Char (Ron); grandchildren, Liam, Ewan, Cole, Siren and Saige; as well as many other extended family and friends.
During his working years, Daryl was involved with his local community centre and served as a coach for his children's sports teams. He enjoyed curling weekly at the Heather Curling Club, and in the summer, spending time in Brandon by his sister's pool with his family. Char always looked up to her big brother Daryl, and some of her fondest memories as a teenager are of staying with him and Della, just hanging out and listening to music. "I'm going to miss you big brother!"
After working for the City of Winnipeg for 30 years, Daryl moved to the East Coast for a relaxing retirement where he enjoyed spending time watching hockey with his friends Bill and Barry, reading books by his favourite author, Stephen King, and watching his favourite shows on A&E. Although Daryl moved from Winnipeg for a quieter retirement, he remained a devout Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers fan and made sure his family and friends back home kept him in the loop about all of the local sports news. During his final days, Karna enjoyed being Daryl's official 'Sports Reporter' by providing him play-by-play updates of the curling games he wasn't able to watch on live TV.
The family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at the Moncton Hospital and Fair Haven Funeral Home & Cemetery for their amazing efforts during this difficult time.
A cremation ceremony will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
Flowers are graciously declined, however friends who wish to donate may do so to any charity of their choosing.

While our paths diverged I will never forget the times in Minnedosa playing in the band and having you as the manager. I still have the photo of the whole crew at a dance in Russell, MB. Later in Winnipeg in the apartment on Stradbrook Ave and the years that followed on Furby St. Memories may dim....... but you will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Chris McPherson (friend) on: Mar 29, 2022
