JACQUELINE (JACKIE) MARY MACLEOD
May 12, 1930 - March 22, 2022

Jackie passed away peacefully after a long battle with Parkinson's, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side.
She is survived by her children, Moira (Jay), Sheila, Ian (Jill), Maureen (Guy) and Aileen.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer, Alex, Rachel, Michael, Charles and Henry, Laura (JD), Sarah (Stuart) Scott (Amanda) and great-grandchildren, Aaron, Brooke and Madison.
Jackie was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband and soulmate Norman in 2007; she was also predeceased by her parents, Hilda and Forbes Grassick and her sister Geraldine Hutchings, as well as her mother and father-in-law, Annie and Alexander MacLeod of Scotland.
Jackie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 12, 1930. She was educated in Winnipeg schools graduating from Kelvin High School in 1947. After graduation from Kelvin, she successfully completed a comptometer course and was employed at Hudson Bay House and later in the audit department with the Province of Manitoba.
Jackie and Norm were married on May 29, 1954 at Saint Aidan's Church in Winnipeg. With the birth of their first child in 1955, Jackie became a stay at home mother for several years and then returned to work outside the home in various jobs in the 1980s.
Jackie enjoyed 5 pin bowling, gardening, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and word books. She enjoyed and never missed watching her two favourite TV shows, Jeopardy and Coronation Street and was quite pleased whenever she got the final Jeopardy question.
Jackie loved animals and was a supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society, the Canadian Wild Life Society and the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter. She also supported several other charities for many years.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank Mira and all the staff at Golden Door Geriatric Centre for their kind care over the past five and a half years.
No flowers please, donations to a charity of one's choice to honour Jackie's memory would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I had the privilege of meeting Jackie on a couple of occasions and it was always lovely to see her. She was a sweet lady. Ian and Jill, Maureen and Aileen, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how special mothers are and how yours will be missed by you all. - Posted by: Doug McCoy (Family friend) on: Apr 05, 2022

  • She was my mother-in-law, & though the times together were not frequent (2,000 miles of distance between us), they were pure gold. Our last time together was 2015, the Macleod family reunion in Maui. Family is memories, and that one will be cherished forever. With love from L.A., California.
