EDITH HANSEN

Our beautiful mom, Edith Hansen, left us on March 11, 2022, to join her loving husband of 56 years.
She said goodbye to her daughters, Carla (Cole), Shelley (Stan) and Deanna (Rick) and her grandsons, Brett (Kendra) and Quinn.
Mom grew up in Inwood, Manitoba. At age 13 she moved to Winnipeg while her mom worked for the Chipman family. A few short years later she met the love of her life, George, and they went on to marry in August of 1958.
Mom was very creative. She was a beautiful seamstress making her own clothes and evening gowns. She was very involved with the church bizarre creating crafts for the annual tea. Later she took an interest in photography. She would enjoy shooting winter scenes, flowers and birds, but her favourites were the monarch butterflies.
As a young family we spent many summer weekends camping with friends. Eventually we bought a place in Clearwater Bay. Mom loved boating, her nature walks, berry picking and photography.
Our parents loved to travel. They enjoyed their cruises and especially loved Maui. Later in life winters were spent in White Rock, BC. After many years, they decided to sell and stay home with the family. Summers were spent golfing and Mom received great pleasure tending to her flower garden.
When our dad passed away Mom made a new life for herself at the Canoe Club where she joined her friends and made new ones. She always made friends easily and was active at the club, even instructing the morning fitness class.
Her last few months were with family, where she showed incredible strength and we shared an endless supply of love.

You are forever in our hearts.

  • We are so very sorry to hear of your mother's passing, She was a beautiful lady. We enjoyed our last visits with her at the Canoe Club. When I was unable to contact her over the past couple of years I assumed that she was perhaps living with one of you girls. My mother {Signe Haslund} and your mother were cousins. My mother was much older being born in 1913. I have fond memories of going camping up at Silver Bay on Lake Manitoba when your mother used to come up with Roy, Cora and Brian. My uncle Henry and aunt Georgia Lemoine kindly took me with them when they went up there Your Mother will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
