JOYCE JAMESINA MCCALLUM
(WILLIAMS)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Joyce Jamesina McCallum on February 27, 2022.
She was predeceased by Earl, her husband of 53 years, her parents, nine sisters and one brother. Mom is survived by Arnold Scott, her beloved companion of 14 years, her devoted daughter Karen, grandsons, Christopher and Michael (Kaleigh) and son, Craig. Mom kept close contact with her nieces, nephews and friends near and far, always grateful for their phone calls and visits.
Upon meeting Arnold, Mom gained an extended family whom she loved and always shared stories of his daughters, Lori, Tammy and Koren, son Robbyn, their spouses and families.
Mom was born to parents, James and Louisa Williams on February 28, 1929 in Roland, MB. She moved to Winnipeg as a young adult working at the CNR in the accounting department. Mom and Dad married in July 1954, built a home and Mom remained in that home to present day when she wasn't travelling to Medicine Hat, wintering in Texas (Pine to Palm) or enjoying time at Falcon Lake.
Mom had an incredibly positive outlook on life, always wore a smile, had an eye for fashion and stayed current with world news. She was kind natured, generous, loved dancing, and was a season ticket holder of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for 55 years! In winter months, she cheered on the Winnipeg Jets and intensely followed curling.
Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Coyle, her physician of many years and to Christine at Brathwaite's Pharmacy for her ongoing care. Thank you to Dr. Larjani and nurses for their compassionate treatment of Mom during her short stay at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Westworth United Church on Saturday, April 30 at 3:00 p.m. The church respectfully requires masks are worn and attendees are vaccinated.
In lieu of flowers, please support a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Condolences to my cousins Craig & Karen. Aunt Joyce was a great aunt & friend to the family. She will be missed by all who knew her. - Posted by: Ross Huntbatch (Nephew) on: Apr 12, 2022

  • My thoughts go out to Craig and Karen on the loss of their sweet mother Joyce. Every time I go by the house I think of her and your Dad and the times we spent as neighbours. It is true your mom always had a great smile on her face and our mother really enjoyed her company across the fence. She will be dancing up a storm! - Posted by: Elizabeth Thomas (Childhood neighbour) on: Apr 02, 2022

  • Joyce was our bright light and neighbour when growing up in River Heights. I can still hear her laughter, a unique and special laughter. My sisters and I as well as old neighbourhood friends loved being a part of her life. She watched us grow into adults, get married, have children, and the passing of our other neighbourhood parents. We watched out for each other. My condolences go out to you Karen and Craig and her precious grandsons. I got to hear many of her adventures. Her home always open. I could say so much but the world will surely be missing her. - Posted by: Marie (Neighbour for years) on: Apr 02, 2022
