MARY KOHUCH
August 17, 1930 – March 31, 2012

In memory of Mary, devoted wife, wonderful Mom and Baba, loving sister, aunt, and caring friend.

Somehow, ten years have gone by since you passed away and the gaping hole of your loss loomed large. Over time, we have come to rely upon your presence through shared family traditions, whether with a precious recipe or a penchant for sharing laughs over many pots of coffee. We savour memories of large extended family gatherings where you were often at the center, all of us circling around you and your kitchen. It isn't surprising that we often describe food in the context of our memories because you generously shared your incredible talents and enhanced many celebrations with delectable dills, heavenly holuptsti or perfect pies. We yearn not only for the taste of what your once busy hands made, but for the indelible imprint of family that we associate with anything coming out of the Kohuch kitchen and Dad's beloved garden. We know how blessed we are to have been nourished on the steady diet of love, sacrifice and faith that you unfailingly provided to us and shared with others. As the world continues to struggle through strange and scary times, with the birthplace of your Dad and your in-laws now at war, we hold on even more tightly to the traditions you passed on to us, understanding that when we bake our paska, we are standing with Ukraine and honouring your beautiful example to preserve what is important.

Vichnaya Pamyat.
May your memory be eternal.
Remembered always, the "Kohuch" kids (Lorraine, Randy, Andrea, Darcia) and grandkids
