RICHARD LARRY THOMAS WOOD

After a very short but courageous battle with cancer, it is with extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad, Richard Larry Thomas Wood, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022.
Richard leaves behind his sons, Ricky (Penny), Kevin (Paula), Ryan (Catherine), his daughter Laura (Lloyd) and stepchildren, Tina and Tyrone. Grandpa Woody will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Lawrence, Melissa, Nykole (Jeff), Kevin (Aaron), Corissa (Marty), Taylor (Rayley), Kyra (Kevin), Kaitlyn, Mateus, Kaylee, Tyson, Easton, Carter and Oakleigh. His memories will be passed on to his great-grandchildren, Azen, Arezonah, Shelby, Adriana, Justyce, Jayce, Lexani, Nolhan, Megan, Kane, Kaailyah, Kylie, Khylinn, Atreus and Jax. Richard was predeceased by the love of his life Valerie Wood (McKinnon), his parents, Hilda and James, as well as his brothers, Gord and Lorne.
Dad's second family was his work family, Teams Transport, where he worked for over 20 years. He loved to work and could usually be found in the Winnipeg yard. Dad definitely had green blood running through his veins and truly was a member of their family. When Dad was not working he could be found on the ball field playing slo pitch with his family. Dad never wanted to quit pitching but the last few years found himself coaching and cheering us on from the sidelines. He is now our angel on the mound. Dad was also a pool shark, who always looked forward to his weekly pool nights. The family would like to express how grateful we are to Laura for seeing Dad's wishes through in his final days, ensuring that he was able to be comfortable and surrounded by unconditional love and care.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home on April 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a private interment to follow. We welcome all of you to join his family and friends at Little Mountain from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on April 21, 2022 as we cheer Dad and celebrate the amazing life he had.
Memorial donations may be made to CancerCare.

Goodbyes are not Forever, Goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean we will miss you, Until we meet again. Rest Easy Driver,
We Love You

  • Happy Birthday to my father Richard Wood! You would have been 79 years young today. The past 6 months I really wish you were around, it's been probably the hardest I've encountered. I miss our daily calls, our hard sports discussions and that you are missing seeing your grandson Easton play hockey or Grandaughter Oakleigh become a gymnast. Miss you and love you Dad! Happy Birthday! Love Ryan - Posted by: Ryan Wood (Son) on: Oct 13, 2023
