LUCILLE MARIE CLARA ROBERT
(née BOURRIER)
"LULU"

August 5, 1946 - April 1, 2022

Our dear Lulu passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family, while praying the rosary and the Divine Mercy chaplet as she took her last breath. Her family will miss her terribly but her years of suffering with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis are over and God, our Father, has called her home. Though her body was racked with pain, her spirit never wavered. She was an inspiration to us all.
Lulu was predeceased by her beloved twice widowed mother Mireille, her father Joseph Dorge (passed in her infancy), her father Frank Bourrier, her parents-in-law, Jos and Irma and her very special aunt who was like a big sister, Julie. Lulu is survived by her life love of 55 years, Denis; her children, Louis, Michelle (Gilles), Nicole (Chris), Giselle (Bil), Suzanne (Russ) and Lisette (Mark); her grandchildren, Miguel, Josué, David, Felix, Katalina, Ryan, Brendan, Jordan and Mya; her godchildren, Evelyn and Travis; her siblings, Denis (Venetia), Diane (Dennis) and Evelyn (James); her in-laws, Emile (Diane) and Jeanne (Allan); her aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins; her lifelong best friends, Lorraine, Raymonde and Claudette; and friends from school days, St. Boniface and Winnipeg Police, Manitoba Classic and Antique Autoclub, Lord Selkirk Region of the AACA, her parish prayer warriors, her women's prayer group, her workplaces and countless others.
Lulu was dedicated to family. She cherished time with her husband, son and five daughters. She loved her date nights with Denis; she had a special bond with Louis; and she laughed so much on girls' nights. She was attentive and loving to her grandkids. She was the heart of the family and embraced all her sons-in-law too. She was a great wife, daughter, mother, mémère, sister, aunt, friend and neighbour. She would make everyone around her feel happy and welcome. She exuded joy through her beautiful smile and her infectious laughter. Everyone loved Lulu and always had nice things to say about her. She was caring, generous, selfless, warm, nurturing and loving. For Lulu, God came first and she had a great devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary. She faithfully read the day's gospel and prayed the rosary each afternoon at 3:00 p.m., the hour of Jesus' death. Her interests lay in cooking, baking, entertaining, reading, road trips with Denis and her kids, vacationing at time-share condos, playing cards and games, celebrating holidays and birthdays; there was always a reason for a party.
During her life, Lulu enjoyed being an "A" student, a legal secretary, a homemaker, a home daycare provider, a florist's bookkeeper and a teacher's aide (TA). Madame Robert was a dedicated TA and all her students loved her. She retired at age 64 to enjoy her home in Texas and spend quality time with her family and friends.
Viewing and prayers will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Roman Catholic Church in Lorette, Manitoba. Mass of the Resurrection presided by Father Mario will be celebrated on Monday, April 11, 2022 with a viewing at 10:00 a.m., words of remembrance (eulogy) at 10:30 a.m. and funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette Roman Catholic Church in Lorette, Manitoba, with interment immediately after the Mass at the parish cemetery (wet and muddy ground, appropriate footwear recommended). Luncheon will follow in the parish hall. The funeral will be recorded and available later in the day on the parish YouTube site at www.youtube.com/c/NotreDamedeLorette/videos.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care that Lulu received from Home Care and Palliative Care Southern Health/Santé Sud and her physician Dr. Suzan Iskander. A special thank you to Father J. Mario de los Rios Londono for having attended to Lulu's spiritual needs during her illness and at the time of her death. Lulu will remain in our hearts forever.
She loved flowers and they are most welcome. Donations may be made in Lulu's name at chalice.ca.

God has not called me to be successful,
He has called me to be faithful. When we stand before God, results are not important. Faithfulness is what matters.

  • Lulu was my best friend since grade school. We had such wonderful times together. Lulu and I had many similar interests. I can remember the shopping trips to the states and, yes, we did shop until we dropped. At times, we didn’t know if we could fit all that shopping in the trunk, so Lulu would be surrounded by a pile of parcels in the back seat. When Denis went away to the states, Lulu would sleep over and we would go out shopping, go to tea houses, go for coffee and spend much time laughing. She enjoyed many meals at my place, especially when I made breaded pork buttons! I will always cherish our fancy Christmas dinners with Lulu, Denis, Julie and Bob. Lulu also looked forward to our evenings of hors d’oeuvres and a selection of fancy martinis along with friends and family. Lulu loved her martinis! The ones with whipped cream were her favourites - the richer the better! Lulu was an exceptional friend. She laughed easily and was always fun to be around. I will miss her dearly. - Posted by: Lorraine Paquet (Friend) on: Apr 10, 2022

  • Growing up in nearby Beausejour, we had many family dinners with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins in Lorette... Which I'm sure most of the people reading this would already know, as the number of attendees seemed to be in the hundreds at least. At the time, as a kid, you think nothing of these events, they just happened... but looking back now, I can't believe how she did these (and I'm more amazed that she wanted to)! This is who she was... She was welcoming, kind and hospitable to any and all. She truly showed what it means to "Love thy neighbour". If everyone had an Aunty Lulu in their lives, they would be happier people and better people for it. I know I'm thankful that I did. Sending all my love to my Godfather and my cousins at this time. • We offer our condolences to Robert and family. Lulu was an exceptionally wonderful person. She always laughed and had a great sense of humour. I have many memories of her with my sister Lorraine who was one of her best friends. She most definitely suffered in silence and never complained. She was an angel in life and is an angel in heaven. Until we meet again you I’ll be missed by many. My sister Lorraine loved you! - Posted by: Colette and Eugene Keefe (Cousin) on: Apr 09, 2022
