• It was a very sad day when I was informed of our friends passing. What a great man, a devastating loss. Please except my deepest sympathy to Alva's family. For over 20 years I had the pleasure of working for Alva and the crew at FGFT with various welding applications. When Alva retired we still had conversations from time to time. One of my last times seeing Alva was a visit with him at there home in Charleswood. A cold beer and great conversation but when I was getting ready to leave, Alva asked if he could play a song on the piano for me. It blew me away, just another talent that he had and never knew. I will cherish our last visit and keep it close when ever I think of our friend. • So sorry to hear that Alva have left us but his legacy will live on through his children. He was a wonderful person I remember all the visits with him and his family and I always felt welcome and close to the family. • My condolences to Alva's family. I worked with Alva for 20 years from 1987 to 2007. When I think of Alva I remember he had so many little saying for different conversations like "the tail doesn't wag the dog" for example. Also the time he had to shave his moustache off due to an upper lip injury from the brake arm hitting him. He was always willing to show people how to do things weather it was work related or not. • Charlene and family, Please accept our condolences. Alva and I were students in the same year group at Belmont Boys Intermediate, 1965. Alva was a star soccer player on a very talented soccer team. On migrating to Winnipeg I was delighted to rekindle our friendship. As recent as last year between September and December we walked the track at Reh-fit Centre on separate evenings. Alva and I played soccer together in the 70’s for The Spitfire Soccer Club. I remember all the nights we spent in the pubs listening to the band that Alva played in and the parties that followed.
