RENE JOSEPH AYOTTE
April 16, 1927 April 2, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend on April 2, 2022 at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Lucille, of 71 years, their children, Dolores and Ray (Dumontier), Lorraine and Reed (Turcotte), Richard and Diane (Lajeunesse) and Roger and Carol (Gregoire). He also leaves precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought him great joy along with many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
René was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family and they loved him in return. He would have done anything for them. Dad was a great storyteller. Everyone enjoyed his cheerful personality and his sense of humour.
Dad was a hard worker all his life and farmed for many years until 1980. He then rented the farm for a number of years and went on working for the Clément Farm until 2000. In 1992, he sold the farm and had a home built in Morris. After retirement, he volunteered at the Mennonite Community Centre and did odd jobs as he was a handyman. He would fix things around town, cut grass and do general gardening jobs.
Dad and Mom travelled to Hawaii, Alaska, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec City, Maritimes, Florida, Texas, California and Mexico.
René's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris for all their hard work, devotion and care.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life mass will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., St. Jean-Baptiste Roman Catholic Church (153 Caron Street) in St. Jean-Baptiste, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in René's memory to the Paroisse de St. Jean-Baptiste or a charity of one's choice.
We love you and you will forever be missed.
