LAN PHUONG HOANG
1949 - 2022
Lan Phuong Hoang passed away at the age of 72 on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at South Health Campus in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
She is survived by her husband Phan The Mac; her children, My Cam (son-in-law Tuan), Thanh, and Hoan (daughter-in-law Lori); grandchildren, Nam, Ethan, Kenny, Amanda, Emily and Olivia; brother Thong Sao Hoang; stepsiblings, Lam Ngoc Linh, Lam Hai Thanh and Lam Hai Binh. She was predeceased by her parents, Hoang Duc Quy (father) and Truong Tu Anh (mother).
Lan will forever be remembered for her dedication to her family; her incredible talents as a seamstress; and her amazing cooking skills. She lived most of her young life in Ha Giang, Vietnam, where she went to school and later met her husband Phan, of 54 years. She came to Canada in 1980 with her family, raising her children in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She later retired and kept active by going swimming or taking English classes before her health declined. She then moved with her husband to Calgary, Alberta where they resided for the last three years.
Lan is known for her strength and her kindness to everyone. She cherished the very simplicities of life and never took for granted all that was given to her. Whatever was given to her, she held on to tightly with endearment, and if any family or friend was in need, it was freely given to them without question. Lan always listened to and helped others, even while dealing with her own health complications, drawing on her strong will and determination to carry her through.
Above all, Lan loved her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, siblings, and friends dearly. More than anything, Lan loved having family and friends by her side.
Viewing services will be held April 14, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium, 12700 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary, AB.
Donations can be made in the memory of Lan to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
