Condolences & Memories (21 entries)

  • I worked at Energy & Mines with Peter. Althoughtwe worked in entirely different areas of the organization, we often had coffee together. Peter could always be counted on to have a funny story, often dealing with something he had done where he became the but of the joke. The stories were always funny. Peter was just a great guy to be around. Although I have not seen him since I left the department, I have no doubt that he continued to provide joy to others through out his life. He is not really gone, he is alive in our memories. - Posted by: Grant McVicar (I worked with Peter at Energy & Mines) on: Apr 27, 2022

  • I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of Peter’s passing and send my sincere condolences to Kathy and family. Peter was a great friend and I have many fond memories of our time together. Growing up we spent a lot of time hanging out with friends in our basements, at the beach and playing golf. I was thrilled to have him as a groomsman in our wedding party. We shared many laughs and Peter was a guy who had a great sense of humor. He was someone who would step up and help others when needed. Over time we drifted apart and I am sorry I did not keep in touch. I remember Peter for his effortless smile and that playful look in his eyes. We have been fortunate to know Peter and he will remain a positive influence for all who knew him. Tom Ruta - Posted by: Tom Ruta (Friend) on: Apr 25, 2022

  • The last time I saw Peter he said "I wish I could do more." Peter always did more and gave so generously of himself to help others. I remember years ago when Peter helped Garry put in a cement post on the outside corner of our deck, all by hand! At many points they were on their bellies in the mud and clay! Peter will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Rest in peace dear friend! - Posted by: Donna and Garry Giesbrecht (Friends ) on: Apr 24, 2022

  • It is with deep sadness that we learn about a life so young and vibrant lost all too soon. We were « growing up » friends who shared some of those crazy carefree years with Pete and then with Pete and Kathy. What a smile and twinkle in his eye he always had! To all of Pete’s family, our heartfelt condolences. Sincerely, Ron & Mag Ferniuk - Posted by: Ron & Mag Ferniuk (Friend) on: Apr 23, 2022

  • Our sincere condolences to you Kathy and family. Peter is released from pain and dancing with the angels. My recollections of Peter are raising a toast with friends, always a smile on his face and a story to tell. I also was able to share some conversation with Peter at the Army Navy where he lunched. He was always interesting and interested in everyone's well being. It is my hope that recalling good memories of times past with your husband and Dad can help heal the ache of loss in your heart. • My family grew up in the GC area and met Pete at Jefferson Jr High. Like many of now we’re all a little greyer and like bacon a little thicker. I found out from my mom about Pete’s passing. My heart goes out to his family and siblings. I remember his smile and laugh. He was a gentle, kind hearted generous soul. He truly was a great friend. Sadly I lost touch with Pete and my other GC friends after our family moved to Selkirk in my grade 11. - Posted by: Wayne Didkowski (friend) on: Apr 17, 2022

  • Peter and his family were long time friends and neighbours. There were many celebrations shared, his mom’s great cooking, and Christmases. There were numerous conversations over their fence and ours during the summer. Peter always had a smile, a twinkle in his eye and was a caring guy. He had a great sense of humour and could tell a good story. My brothers and I as well as their families were so shocked and saddened by Pete’s passing. My love and condolences to his family, children, wife and Susie and Mark. They have endured much loss. Memory eternal! • My heart goes out to the whole family. I am totally shocked reading this in the paper today. I knew Pete from high school and whenever we crossed paths, we stopped to talk and had great conversations. We always laughed together. Last time I saw Pete was at the Ukrainian Sportsman Banquet at St. Nicks Church a couple of years ago where we had quite an extended conversation. Pete was a great guy with a great easy going personality. I will miss him dearly. One of the good guys gone too soon. Rest in Peace my friend. - Posted by: Walter Mazepa (Friend) on: Apr 16, 2022
