LUZVIMINDA (LUZ) SANTIAGO

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Luzviminda Santiago. She was surrounded by her husband, siblings and children in the physical hospital room, while many loving family members were present online. She put up a strong and courageous fight in her battle with Covid.
Luz is survived by her husband Wilfredo, their two sons, Louwie (Joanne) and Wilson (Sarah) and their daughter Lauren (Jeremy); as well as her three beautiful grandchildren, Mia, Noa and Karter. Her loving extended family includes her brothers and sisters, Norma (deceased), Manuel, Federico Jr., Elizabeth, Eva, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Luz was the epitome of hard work. She worked as a seamstress for Nygard International for over 30 years, where she was able to practice a trade she excelled in and foster good friendships with her colleagues. In the final years of her life, she provided home health care services in patients' residences. It was a position that she found rewarding as she was not only able to assist with day-to-day tasks, but also provide companionship and emotional support to her patients.
Luz had been married for over 40 years and together with her husband, she enjoyed morning mall walks at Garden City Shopping Centre, binge watching TFC (The Filipino Channel), attending Sunday mass at St. Anthony's, and trying to keep up with their young and active grandchildren. Her happiest times were when family would get together, probably eating Chinese Food.
Lamay (viewing) will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 between 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 midnight (with eulogy at 7:30 p.m.) at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on April 21 at 10:00 a.m at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Burrin Ave. with Father Dominic Yuen. Rite of Committal to follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Special thanks to the staff and nurses at Health Sciences Centre, 4th Floor MICU for giving her and our family the attentive care and support we needed.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Anthony of Padua Church.
