RITA MAUREEN ROBINSON
(nee EMERY)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend on March 31, 2022, at the age of 71, at Vernon Jubilee Hospital in Vernon, BC.
Rita was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Robinson and her parents, Douglas and Joyce Emery. Left to lovingly cherish her memory are her sons, Rob (Luisa), Doug (Melissa) and grandson Kalen; brother Brad (Mandy) and niece Miranda; sister-in-law Phyllis Robinson, niece Kathy and nephew John, as well as numerous dear friends, especially Freda.
Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Rita spent much of her early and teen years on the ocean with her family, boating locally on the coast with a few trips to Hawaii sprinkled in; this is where she found her fondness for the ocean. She was a quiet, gentle, caring and giving soul who was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved her family and friends, including the many pets she welcomed into her home over the years.
She met her late husband Alex in the early 1970s while he was visiting Vancouver. Shortly thereafter, they packed up and made their way to Winnipeg where they had two sons. She enjoyed relaxing in the sun by the pool, having a cup of tea and playing canasta and cribbage with friends, but nothing more than spending time with her grandson, Kalen. She worked in various customer service roles up until her retirement where she found a passion for gardening; this is where you would find her happily getting her hands dirty, planting her favourite flowers and plants. In 2015, after the passing of Alex, she moved back to Vancouver to stay with her brother, before spending time living with her mother until her passing. She then relocated to Lumby, BC in 2019 to spend her final years close to her youngest son Doug and grandson Kalen. We will greatly miss her; she will live in our hearts forever and never be forgotten. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for all the care and compassion provided to Rita.
In keeping with our mother's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of one's choice or consider planting a flower in her memory.

I worked with Rita in the nineties and we got along so well, just a wonderful friend! I've quite often wondered how to get in touch with her again, I didn't know Alex had passed away. It's too bad we lost touch with each other, over the years and I didn't know she was no longer in Winnipeg. Well, I need not wonder anymore! R.I.P. dear friend. Until we meet again! My condolences go out to Rob and Doug and all the family. Joyce - Posted by: Joyce Bebak (co-worker & friend) on: Apr 23, 2022
