CARRIE BERTHELETTE
With great sorrow we announce the passing of our dear Mother (Sister, Aunty and Grandma) Carrie Evelyn Berthelette (nee Johnson) on April 14, 2022, in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 75.
She leaves her four children: son Randy (Margie); daughters, Lynn, Sheri and Michelle to cherish her memory. Grandma will be greatly missed by her beloved grandchildren, Jo-Dee, Michael-Tyler, Justin, Keianna, Riley, Zachary, Salem (Carrie), Xander-Ray, Faith and great-grandchildren, Tayvian and Acelyn.
She was predeceased by her husband (Papa) Aurele recently and her granddaughter Hope.
Carrie was born September 16, 1946 and raised in St. Vital with 10 siblings. She was predeceased by her parents, Conrad Johnson and Florence Kopchuk (nee Keen), stepfather George Kopchuk and siblings, Alfred, Barry, Earl, Linda and Gweneth. She leaves to mourn her siblings, Lauralee, Gregory, Brenda, Keith and John. She will also be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom's quilting, painting, photography, baking, canning, gardening, knitting, and crafting talents kept her busy. We don't know how she managed looking after Papa and continuing to make Sunday dinners for the whole family so that everyone could be together.
Mom thrived on making every birthday and holiday special for her family and friends. Her home was a Christmas wonderland every December.
She was extremely lucky with bingo and silent auction draws. She enjoyed her bingo and casino nights out with her girlfriends.
Mom also volunteered a lot of her time fundraising for causes she believed in.
During her career she worked most of her life at St. Boniface Hospital as a Ward Clerk, then advanced to CancerCare as a Senior Communications Clerk. She developed a special connection with many of the patients because of her caring nature. After retiring from the hospital she was bored and went back to work as an Administrative Clerk for the UFCW Union office which she enjoyed until her "official" retirement.
Mom and Dad purchased a cottage lot at St. Laurent, MB that she beautified with flowers and her crafts. It was her favourite place to spend the summer watching family enjoy the outdoors together.
In the winters, Mom and Dad loved to go to Mexico and soak in the sun. Mom lived life to the fullest.
Cremation has taken place. Please join us for a double Celebration of Life for both Mom and Dad on June 18, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 pm at the Fort Garry Curling Club - 2nd Floor at 696 Archibald St. There will be music, food and dancing to celebrate their lives the way they loved to live it.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

Dear Sheri I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. How hard it must be for you, having just lost your father as well. Your mom was such a lovely person. When I think about her I remember she had that beautiful smile. She was such a dedicated worker at the cancer clinic. - Posted by: marianne humphreys (co worker at st boniface cancer clinic) on: May 08, 2022

I first met Carrie when I started as a clerk at CCMB at St Boniface Hospital. She was my senior clerk and she always made me and anyone around her feel comfortable and she had so much knowledge. We had lots of fun going out for lunch and parties at her home were always so much fun. She even had a baby shower at her home for my first born. She was a very special, caring, loving and giving individual. Carrie always talked about her family with such pride and love. Carrie always put others before herself and was so much fun to be with. We will miss you Carrie. I'm sure you and Aurele are together again watching over your family and friends. Carrie was always a great friend, gracious hostess and so much fun to be with. I will always remember our walks up and down fifth avenue in Playa del Carmen and at Carnivale on the island. She had such a marvellous gardening talent and always made everything around her much more beautiful with all the colourful flowers and plants. Rest In Creator’s everlasting sunshine Carrie. You will be missed. - Posted by: Judi McFarland (Friend ) on: Apr 30, 2022
