RITA CHENIER
January 20, 1944 – April 19, 2022

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of my mother Rita Chenier, aged 78 years, of Paradise Village, Ste. Anne, MB. Rita passed on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital after a short and hard battle with cancer.
Rita is survived by her daughter Michele (Bob) Stremich; sister Margaret Purcell and brother Peter Brotherton. Also, brothers-in-law, Roger (Ida) Chenier, Gilles (Louise) Chenier and Tony (Cathy); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Robert and brother David.
Rita met Robert while he was on leave from the army base (Queens Own Rifles) in Germany. They were married in 1963 and celebrated 58 years together.
Rita managed a clothing boutique in Debenham's department store, after moving to Canada in 1977. She worked with dad at Sandilands Mill and Loewen Windows. She loved gardening, baking and spending time with family and all their close friends in South Junction and Paradise Village.
We wish to thank all the great nurses and doctors at St. Boniface Hospital for the care they gave my mom.
A service will be held at a later date, in South Junction, MB.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our deepest sympathies, Michelle. How tough to lose both parents in such little time. I will miss hearing you and your mom gab about gardening. - Posted by: Joanne Brown (Neighbour) on: May 03, 2022

  • Rita and Robert were like family. Rita was always cheerful and one of the hardest working people we know. So many times we caught her up a ladder working on windows or Christmas lights. She never liked to ask for help but she was always there to help others. We miss her laugh and her zest for life. She's loved and remembered forever. - Posted by: Theresa and Horace Buors (friends) on: May 03, 2022
