ALEXANDER (ALEX) BERTIN CRUIKSHANK
Alex passed away suddenly at his farm home near Sandy Lake, Manitoba on April 1, 2022.
Alex was born into farming and mechanics as the second child and first son on October 12, 1952 at Boissevain Hospital. He graduated in 1970 from Goose Lake school in Roblin. He worked in a few places then came to Winnipeg in 1975 to go to Red River College where he graduated with honours in Auto Mechanics, acquired a journeyman's status with Winnipeg Transit and his Class 1A license. In the early 1980s he became District Manager for UPS, in BC, Ontario and Prairie provinces, until he bought a farm in 1998. Wherever Alex went he easily made friends with his quiet but friendly manner and had a great deal of knowledge for vehicles and travels.
Alex is survived by sisters, Glenda and Gayle, nieces, nephews, other family, friends, neighbours and former co-workers. He was predeceased by parents, Glen (2002), Evie (2008), brother Lyle (1992), sister Marg (2004), nephew Glen (2020), and many family and friends.
Special thanks to Brent and Barb Desiatnyk who were there at the end. White's Funeral Home, Box 1620, Minnedosa, MB R0J 1E0, 204-867-3868 in care of arrangements.

I worked with Alex at UPS in Winnipeg back around 1988. I remember Alex as a good and kind man. I was a dumb kid, and he was something of a role model to me. He had a quiet and thoughtful way about him, and I always liked him. He was my favorite person at the UPS Center. I last saw Alex about the time he was promoted, and I remember how odd it was to see him wearing dress clothes rather than coveralls. The coveralls always seemed to suit him better I guess. I've always remembered him. I'm very sad to hear of his passing. - Posted by: JC (Former Co-worker) on: May 29, 2022

Reading this came as a real shock. I went to Red River College with Alex and started at Winnipeg Transit with him. He was a great guy to work with and really helpful both at work and outside work. I lost track of him when he moved out west and recently reconnected a few years ago. We had plans this summer to visit the farm and check out his Internationals. He will be missed by all.
