RICHARD STEPHEN FRASER

With very sad hearts we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Richard (Dick) Fraser, on April 21, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 93.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife Gladys, his children, Denise (Darcy), Debra and Richard (Julie), his grandchildren, Justin (Leslie), Shanda (Darin), Emily, Charlotte and Lorelei and great-grandson Jack. He is also survived by his brothers, Marcel and Tony (Ivy Claire) and sisters, Terry, Cecile (Edward) and Jeannette, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dad loved his family and being together and gathering, whether it was at home or at the cottage all were welcome. He liked nothing more than to share a meal with all food being good! Mom and Dad had the good fortune of 65 years together with many accomplishments and adventures along the way - from refurbishing an old school bus and travelling across Canada to building their own home and cottage or travelling to Las Vegas, Texas and Florida and of course the occasional trip to South Beach. Dad was a founding member of the Kinsmen Club of Charleswood where he made many lifelong friends. He was a long time parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and a Knights of Columbus member.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Boulevard on Friday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. and will be live-streamed on YouTube at https://youtube.com/watch?v=Azg0ZQBwrak&feature=share. Interment will be take place at Assumption Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Palliative Care, St. Boniface Hospital.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Our sincerest condolences to Gladys and the whole family. Dick and Gladys were like family when we lived in Wpg in the early-90s, and Dick will live on in our memories. We still often speak of our times at the cottage, and how Dick always had a sly smile on his face. Rest in peace, Dick. - Posted by: Anne-Marie & Andre Dupuis (Friends from way back when) on: May 13, 2022

  • Our heartfelt condolences to the whole family. Although we are miles apart, I fondly remember many trips to Winnipeg with my parents as a child to go visit. Always plenty of laughter and hugs with Uncle Dick. Prayers, love and hugs to everyone. - Posted by: Val & family (niece / cousin) on: May 12, 2022

  • Our heartfelt condolences to you Dennie & Darcy and family, losing a kind loving father, father-in-law and grandpa, and especially to your mom, Gladys, losing her lifelong partner. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Debbie & Dave Whitford (Friend) on: May 07, 2022

  • Dearest Gladys I am so sorry for your loss. Dick was such a good guy, friend to everyone, we had a lot of good times down at the lake with a fresh bottle of wine and a deck of cards and I can hear you saying “” Dick your cheating “”when the guys would win ha ha. He will be missed dearly by you and all the family, but keep all the cherished memories close to your heart and Dick will always be with you. My love goes out to all of you. Your old friend Vera. - Posted by: Vera (Good friend ) on: May 07, 2022
