CHRISTOPHER HILLHOUSE
November 16, 1956 - April 30, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother Chris after many complications related to a lifelong battle with asthma.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda; children, Krislyn (Fil) and Victoria (Craig); grandchildren, Edyn, Elly, Mackenzie, Camden, and Logan; brother Glen and sister Caroline (Marc). He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Joan, younger brother Dwayne, and his beloved Nana.
Chris grew up in Elmwood and after marrying Linda, they built a home in East St. Paul to raise their daughters and resided there for over 30 years. After retiring from MTS with over 35 years of service, they relocated to an acreage where he built his dream shop, taking on many significant projects including his classic 1949 Chevy truck.
Chris was a dedicated friend and family man, always willing to lend a helping hand regardless of his many health challenges. He was a depth of knowledge to the many people that relied on him for advice. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place and a small private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life for all who knew and loved Chris will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank all the many doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who were a part of his treatment over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association in his honour.
Friends and family are invited to share memories by visiting Christopher's memorial page at seasonsfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (14 entries)

  • Chris was a very nice guy. I remember growing up in Elmwood and he lived down the lane and was always working on his Van. He called it "Van Dango" that was many years ago and he always took time to show us his accomplishments. So sad sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Mark Bishop (Family aquaintance) on: May 29, 2022

  • I knew Chris I think since grade 7. As teenagers and young men we did a lot of stupid things together :) Chris was a great friend and just a solid human being. He was one of the toughest most determined people I have ever met. I worried about his health issues but always thought that he was too stubborn to let any of them ever take the wind out of his sails. I wish I could have spent more time with him. He was that very rare friend where you could pick up a conversation you had a year ago like it was yesterday. I don't know how to describe that kind of connection. I know I still feel the connection, I guess I always will. My deepest condolences to the entire Hillhouse clan. You lost someone who was very special to a lot of people. Hopefully some of Chris's determination and toughness was passed on, it will help you find a way through this. - Posted by: Joe (Popovitch) on: May 29, 2022

  • This is so sad. Chris was everyone’s google source of knowledge and giving. Deepest condolences and thoughts with Chris’s family and friends. - Posted by: Neil Murray (Co worker @MTS) on: May 08, 2022

  • Working around Chris in the Data Shop and seeing his smiling face in the mornings when we gathered made the experience just that much better. He was an expert in his area. We could always count on him to lend a hand; thank-you Chris. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Tom Price (MTS Tech friend) on: May 08, 2022

  • Chris was a kind man. He was always cooperative and willing to share his knowledge and experience. I got to know Chris when he was working in one of our technical support groups and I was a Technical Education Instructor. You could tell he enjoyed technology but even more so the people and camaraderie he had with his co-workers. - Posted by: Greg Russell (Co-worker at MTS) on: May 07, 2022

  • Every time I come into Winnipeg I made a point of connecting with Chris to talk about old time and old cars. Will miss him. My condolences to his family. May he Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Bob Laplume (School buddy) on: May 07, 2022

  • Chris and I were volunteers for equipment sizing and distribution of the East St Paul soccer teams. We did this for many years. Chris and I also designed the new logo for East St Paul Aces. He was always a pleasure to work with, and will be missed. My condolences to the Hillhouse family. - Posted by: Owen Clarke (Friend) on: May 07, 2022

  • Chris was a great guy with great ideas and immense knowledge, he recently helped me with a new car build I was doing and his advise made things so much easier. I was hoping to repay him by helping on his own build but my own health problems prevented this. May you Rest In Peace Chris, my condolences to his family. - Posted by: John McCeeanor (Friend ) on: May 07, 2022
