Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Shane, I’m so very sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I used to babysit you and your sister all the time. As I recall, your mom always left the house looking like a movie star. Not a hair out of place. When the Shuster children were younger, we would walk to The Bootery to see your dad. New shoes for all. My sincere condolences to you. • My condolences on the passing of your Mother. I was a friend in school years of your sister, Randa. - Posted by: shari Fraser(Hendin) (friend of Randa) on: May 09, 2022

  • When I was transferred back to Wpg for a short while in the mid 1980's, Bev was the Asst Manager at Irene Hill. We bumped into each other from time to time over the next 30 years, and it was like time stood still. Rest in peace, gracious lady. Your soul will light the heavens. - Posted by: Patricia Simcoe-Rosenbaum (Former co-worker) on: May 07, 2022

  • Bei Mir Bist Du Shane: I am still reeling from the shock of finding out that your wonderful mum had passed away. I remembered when I would return home after babysitting you and Randa, my ribs would be sore from laughing at your antics and the outrageously funny things you kids would say! You recognized an exemplary child pesterer (according to my favourite brother) when you saw one! A number of years ago, I had met your mum in Schlepper's - uh - Shopper's on River and Osborne, shortly after you'd started your literary career. She pulled out different articles that you had written for the Winnipeg Sun. To say that she was proud of you would be an understatement! May you be comforted by the knowledge that your parents loved you and your sister within an inch of your lives. In case you were wondering, I can still draw frogs and do Tarzan calls (for my nephew who is a professional cuteness therapist, as well as being naturally obnoxious since birth). Those of us who are blessed with natural obnoxiousness can really appreciate this attribute! Your mum's kindness naturally attracted a lot of friends to her, she was quite the social butterfly. I was always treated well by your mum - even as a teenager, she spoke to me as though I were an adult. Now, I'm an lol (little old lady, because I'm only 5'2" short, and over 65 years old). Oy! Shane - I am sending you a big hug (but no Covid germs!). Your unrepentant piano-playing former child pesterer, Yvette. - Posted by: yvette berger (friend) on: May 07, 2022
