Peter, we were so sorry to learn of Judy's death. Please accept our deepest condolences, We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. We were able to view the funeral service on Saturday and it was good to see you again, even if only digitally. Your eulogy brought back a lot of memories for us, as did Bill's homily. It was so nice to see him again too. His mention of River North days being over 40 years ago was really a shocker! You were looking over my shoulder when I did my first funeral (only you and I were in attendance), when I delivered my first sermon (I still have it), and celebrated my first eucharist (you pointed out that I consecrated the bread twice instead of doing the wine). These things I will never forget. With thanksgiving for Judy, we wish you all the best, George and Deb - Posted by: George Eves (Colleague and friend) on: May 16, 2022

I count myself so lucky to have known Judy. She was simply the best-- one of the kindest, most down to earth individuals I have ever met. She knew how to bring out the best in everyone. She was herself the best of teachers, the best of mothers, the best of partners. She was witty, well-read, devastatingly funny. And she was fair-minded and forgiving. Judy's faith in and love for her family and friends never wavered. She was brilliant, original thinker and a meticulous scholar. Her love for Dickens' work made sense of all things Victorian and modern, our past and our present. I wish Peter, Catherine Mary and their family peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Sue Matheson (Student Colleague Friend) on: May 10, 2022

When I first went to university I was fortunate to have Judy as my English professor at St. John's College U of M. As I would tell her years later, she was able to get me to understand poetry and to appreciate poetry. She and her husband were always very kind to recognize me and take time to say hello. - Posted by: John Ingram (former student) on: May 07, 2022
