GARTH GABLE
September 13, 1940 May 2, 2022
Our father, grandfather and friend passed away after a short battle with Covid at the age of 81, at the Beacon Hill Lodge care home.
Dad (Grandfather) was survived by his children, Scott (Brandy), Reid (Blanche), Kevin and Courtney (Craig) and grandchildren, Joshua, Cody, Noah and Benjamin.
Dad grew up in Winnipeg's north end Weston neighbourhood. As a child, he played baseball and hockey. One of dad's first jobs was delivering pharmacy prescriptions by bicycle. He was never alone while working, as he always had his pet mouse Gus riding in his sleeve. Dad graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts (economics) degree. He worked initially as a meat salesman for Canada Packers, and later as a pharmaceutical salesman for Ayrest and then Miles. Dad later went on to become a real estate agent and broker, eventually buying his own Century 21 franchise office.
Dad married Mom (Lorraine Hart) in 1965 and they remained together for 38 years until 2003.
Dad was always very sociable and remembered by all those he met. No matter where he went whether a store, a sporting event, or even the principal's office at his kids' school, he would always strike up an animated conversation and learn things about people in minutes, that other people may not have learned in years of knowing them. Throughout his life, his best friends were always his father and mother, whom he remained very close with throughout their whole lives. Dad will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to the compassionate staff at Beacon Hill Lodge that took care of him since 2017 and were there with him around the clock during his battle with Covid.
Cremation has taken place and no service is being held.
