REGINA (ELLEK) EMES
On Thursday, May 4, 2022, Regina slipped away peacefully at the age of 93. Regina was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother anyone could ask for and was loved by many. While we got to spend many great years with her it is never easy to say good-bye and she will be missed terribly.
Regina was predeceased by her husband Joe (Joseph), her sisters, Elizabeth and Teresa, brothers, Joe and Martin, and her son-in-law Duane Boutang. She leaves to cherish her only child Wanda Boutang; three grandchildren, Marisa (Keir) Savage, Dayna (Grant) Jongejan and Darren (Cheryl) Boutang; six great-grandchildren, and her dear sister Mary Weiss.
Regina was born in Sprague, MB where she lived almost her entire life. Her working years began at the Sprague Hotel, then marrying the handsome Joe Emes she turned her hand to cooking at the logging camp, then running the general store and eventually serving the community at the Sprague Credit Union. Regina loved gardening, she made the sweetest jam and the best Texas brownies. She adored children and made her home welcoming to not only her own grandchildren but neighbours as well, her back door was always open, the cookie jar always full, just as her heart was.
Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Vita Personal Care Home for making her final days comfortable.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel Co-op in Steinbach, MB with interment to follow at the Sprague Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sprague Museum or East Borderland Senior Housing Inc., Box 207, Sprague, MB R0A 1Z0.
