STEPHANIE JOANNE ELSASSER
(nee HALAIKO)

May 30, 1936 - May 11, 2022

Peacefully, with her family by her side, our Mother and Grandmother passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Fred Douglas Lodge.
Forever loved, she leaves to mourn her three sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Pam, Wayne and Cindy, and Ronald Jr.; her grandsons, Shawn (Kathryn) and Scott; nephews and nieces from near and far.
Stephanie was predeceased by her husband Ronald of 55 years in 2010. Also, her brother Stanley, and parents, Ludwig and Maria Halaiko; sister-in-law Lucy, brother-in-law Harold, and her husband's parents, Frederick and Mary Elsasser.
Mom enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family. She also had a very big heart when it came to animals, especially her beloved cats. She had a wry sense of humour and will be fondly remembered by her laugh.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their loving care of our Mom. You were her angels here on earth.
Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

Mom, gone from our sight,
but not from our hearts.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Aunt Stephie was a dear one to me. She is the basis of many precious childhood memories of mine. I remember many interactions with her including a firm demand phone call I got from her once. She gave me no way out! Among many other things Aunt Stephie was a wonderful cook. She enriched the life of my mother Lucille (Lucy) Donegani, so I benefited from her directly and indirectly. May Stephie's Afterworlds be as meaningful as she made the lives of many people during her wonderful life. Unforgettable she was. - Posted by: Douglas Donegani (Nephew In-Law) on: May 14, 2022

  • I was so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember when your mom and dad built their brand new home next door to us, it was so beautiful! Your parents were so good to my mom and dad, they were just the greatest neighbours we could have. Please accept my deepest condolences, cherish your memories, take care 💔 Joanne Conger - Posted by: Joanne conger (Neighbour's next door..) on: May 14, 2022

  • Dear Glenn, Wayne, Ronnie and families, sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. I have great memories of your mom from when we were kids. I loved going into "Stephie's" kitchen as she always had delicious things to eat that she had made. And as a little girl I always admired how pretty Stephie was, she wore stylish clothes and always had her hair and make up done when she went out, even just for grocery shopping :) She always took such good care of her yard, planting beautiful flowers and working in the yard into the evening. Stephie was always kind and respectful to my mom and dad and I know they thought a lot of her. I'm sure you will all miss her very much.
