CHARLES (BUD) BARBOUR
May 27, 1934 - May 13, 2022

With deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Bud, May 13, 2022.
Bud leaves to mourn his loving wife Margaret; son Charles (Barb); daughter Susan (Dean); stepdaughter Tanis (Brad). Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
As a young man, Bud raced sports cars both in Winnipeg's Whittier Park and Brookland Speedway, and the Grand Forks Speedway ND. His love of the sport continued, and he would take his family on holidays to the Minnesota State Fair to watch the races. Bud enjoyed all sports and participated in many. His favourites being hockey and baseball.
He built a beautiful cottage at Bird Lake in the early 1960s, which is still in use today. He loved spending summers and winters there. Taught Charles and Susan fishing and ice-fishing, water skiing and snowmobiling. Later he enjoyed horseback riding with Tanis and taking his dogs for long walks at La Barriere Park.
Bud was a heavy equipment sales and serviceman for many years. He owned and operated a Shell service station on Academy Road, then worked as a Ford service manager for 25 years. His next career path took him to RPS where he delivered to Brandon daily. When he retired, he volunteered for Victoria Lifeline for 10 years.
Bud was a caring, giving person, willing to quickly lend a hand when needed. He will be sorely missed.
As per Bud's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or a charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Devastated to hear this sad news. Through being friends with (Tanis) I had spent many days at the home of Bud and Margaret and many occasions at their cottage. With his vast knowledge in the motor industry, he passed along numerous tips when we'd have problems with our car. He had a big love for dog(s) and horse(s) that he and Tanis took great pleasure in. Unfortunately I lost contact with the whole family many years ago, but would drive by their house on many occasions with the hope that they may be outside doing yardwork which would have given me a reason to stop and say hello. I wish I had dropped by to see them.. Sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: john baillie (family friend) on: Feb 21, 2023

  • Myself, my wife and our 3 children appreciate what Mr. Barbour built at Bird Lake everyday. The cabin he built is cherished by our family and him and his family our often thought about by us. Be well - Posted by: Jason Neufeld (Distant) on: May 22, 2022
