MARVIN MIROCHNICK

On the morning of May 18, 2022, Marvin Mirochnick died peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital, in a comfortable room with a beautiful view of Winnipeg. He was 83, and had been declining from Parkinsonism and heart disease for nearly two years. Marvin was predeceased by grandparents Jacob and Esther Minkin, parents Samuel and Jenny Mirochnick, parents-in-law Peter J. And Clara Epp. Left to grieve and remember him with love are his wife of 56 years Viola (Epp), son Barry, daughter Lisa (husband Chris), and his "adopted" family Jose Sanchez, Ani Ramirez and their 6 children who called him Grandpa. He will be lovingly remembered by two brothers, Percy (wife Simonne) and Harry, as well as five sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was born and grew up in Winnipeg's North End where he attended Faraday Elementary School, Strathcona Junior High and St. John's High School. After a brief stint as a radio DJ, which was the fulfillment of a childhood dream, he returned to Winnipeg to attend University and complete a B.A. He then went on to a fulfilling and rewarding career of 30 years with Manitoba Probation Services. He remained active and enjoyed 30 years of retirement doing things he loved.
Memorial Service with reception to be held at First Mennonite Church 922 Notre Dame Ave. on Thursday May 26, 2022 at 1:30PM.
The family would like to thank all the thoughtful and supportive health care staff who provided care to Marvin. If people wish to honour his memory, donations can be made to MCC or St Boniface Hospital Foundation-Palliative Care.

  • Vi, Barry, Lisa, extended family and friends, I was very saddened today to read of Marvin's passing. I worked with Marvin for many years at Probation Services. We worked hard, but also had many fun times together at staff parties. Marvin loved to entertain and participate in the skits we put together for staff events. He was willing to put himself out there much to the enjoyment of himself and others! He was a very kind person, a gentle man, but always a gentleman first and foremost. I will remember him fondly and hope that his health concerns are all a thing of the past now and that he is resting in peace. Please take good care of each other! - Posted by: Joyce Hooper (Former co-worker of Marvin) on: May 21, 2022
