LIONEL (GRANT) WARREN

After a happy and healthy life, our husband, father, grandpa - Fafa, brother and uncle passed away peacefully of cancer at the age of 73 on May 20, 2022, at Beausejour Hospital.
Born October 3, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba only son of Lionel and Jean Warren. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Gloria Locke, brother-in-law Jean Cloutier and niece Michelle Cloutier.
He is survived by his wife Janet (Swiderski) of three weeks short of 49 years, daughter Crystal (Mark) Banek and son Bradley (Kyla) Warren, sister Gail Cloutier. He was grandpa to Everett and Easton Banek and Fafa to Lily and Max Warren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
Grant worked at Freshwater Fish Market Corp for 37 years till retirement. For the past 10 years he worked part-time for Sun Gro in Beausejour, meeting many people whom he enjoyed chatting with.
He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying target practicing, canoeing, miniature golf, astronomy and bird watching with all the children and grandchildren. He liked helping others but didn't ask for help in return.
Thanks to Dr. Kim at Victoria Hospital, staff at Selkirk CancerCare, Palliative Team that came to the house and Beausejour Hospital for his brief stay there.
Accordingly, to Grant's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering to take place.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Back in the day we had real good times at Freshwater Fish in Transcona (work) and on his farm out past Vivian. We shared a canoe and explored the river that halved his farm and roamed the 160 acres that was to be his home forever. He always told me how much he loved Janet. Grant was a rock solid hard worker, the most reliable man I ever knew. Everyone could depend on him to say and do the right thing. Rest in peace Grant - see you soon old buddy. - Posted by: Mike Goodliffe (Buddy) on: May 29, 2022

  • My love to Janet and her family. Grant was a very special friend to my husband Mike and we will always remember his wonderful smile and good sense of humour. We will always remember Grant and Janet and their visits with love. Rest gently Grant. ❤️ - Posted by: Gretchen Goodliffe (Friend ) on: May 29, 2022
