November 25, 1922 - May 21, 2022

Peacefully in her sleep in her 100th year, Helen joined her husband Lou, who predeceased her in 1987. She was also predeceased by sisters, Anne, Alice, Stephanie and brother Mitch.
Left to mourn are her loving sons, Doug (Pat) and Jim (Sandy) and her grandchildren, Jimmy, John, Cailin (Ryan), all of Winnipeg and Kyle, Kevin and their mother Val from Thunder Bay.
Though petite in stature, Granny was mighty in attitude. She made us smile many times over the years with her feisty remarks. She always fed the lively friends that Doug and Jim frequently brought home. All her boys knew they were welcome in the family home on Kylemore Avenue.
Granny was a fan of bingo and loved her many trips with friends to Las Vegas - 18 visits in total.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Lions Personal Care home, in particular the caring folks on the third floor. Your patience and kindness over these many years is much appreciated.
Granny was happy and content thanks to you. We are thankful we were able to visit in person these last six months after Covid restrictions.
A family interment and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

We miss you, Granny.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • For many years before the pandemic, my friend Marilyn and I sang biweekly at Lion's Manor on the third floor. We were honored to meet Helen, who introduced herself to us as "Helen Watermelon" :-). She unfailingly greeted us with a smile and always loved talking. She sometimes offered up punchy comments which always made us laugh. Her gentle, lively and warm spirit always encouraged us. Rest in peace Helen. You were a gift to us. - Posted by: Lydia Penner (Friend (sang at Lion's Manor)) on: Jun 09, 2022
