JOHN (JACK) HAMILTON
April 6, 1928 - May 20, 2022
A wonderful man with expressive eyes and a beautiful smile, who put smiles on the faces of the people he met, is gone. Jack Hamilton died on Friday, May 20, 2022, at home in his big chair, surrounded by his loving family.
He joins his wife Sylvia Hamilton, and daughter Kathleen Godfredsen. He leaves to mourn his daughters, Maureen Grace and Paula Hamilton, grandson Xander Bynski, son-in-law Pat Grace, sister Betty Hussey, brother Larry Hamilton, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He adored our mom and often marvelled at the fact that she ever gave him the time of day in the first place back in 1950. He was devoted to her throughout the 68 years they were married and cared for her with such tenderness in the last years of her life. He was bursting with pride when it came to his three daughters and only grandson and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer us on as we pursued school, careers, sports or anything we said we were interested in. He would brag about us to anyone who would listen and while it was a bit embarrassing, we secretly loved how proud he was of us and our achievements, no matter how small.
He worked at Merchants Consolidated and felt great accomplishment in his role organizing the huge task of moving from one warehouse to another. He was an artist and said he was proud of "some" of his sketches and paintings of which many are displayed in our homes. He was instrumental in the development of The Meadows from the ground up and enjoyed living there for several years before moving to Devonshire House. We will miss his beautiful spirit, his sense of humour (right till the end), and his physical presence, but with all the wonderful memories we have he will live on in our hearts.
Thank you Dad, for teaching us to be grateful and kind, to laugh at ourselves, and to appreciate close friendships and the little things in life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Devonshire House who seemed to love him like their own grandfather, his dedicated home care workers, and his good friend, John, for keeping an eye out for him the last several months.
Jack's favourite charities were The War Amps and the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Jack was truly loved in Park City meadows. I was his neighbour for 6 years and regarded him as one of my favourite people. Always pleasant and positive. He always made me smile. I will truly miss him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences as the loss of your father is not easy to adjust to. May you eventually feel his presence around you like a warm blanket. And may you smile again. Cathie Rose - Posted by: Cathie Rose (Park city meadows neighbour) on: Jun 04, 2022
