MICHELINE (MICKEY) EMILY BECK

Micheline (Mickey) Beck March 2, 1932. In the arms of her family and in the comfort of exceptional health care, we announce her peaceful passing at Lions Manor Personal Care Home on May 19, 2022.
Mickey was born in Wakaw Saskatchewan to the late William and Helen (nee Hrytzak) Balon. Prior to her marriage with Dallis Beck, Mickey worked at T.M. Ball. Later in life she worked at Peoples Jewellers as well as WRHA Home Care. Beyond work, she devoted her life primarily to her 3 girls, sharing her unconditional love.
Mickey was easy to spot in a crowd, with highlighter coloured wardrobe features. Whether it be a multicoloured sun-visor, a vibrant windbreaker, or the bright lipstick and nail polish she so often adorned, her clothing was as colourful as her laughter.
Her nine grandchildren enjoyed her pool at her condo, her impressive spoon collection and always had to go feed the ducks. She was aware of life's simple beauty and was convinced that any of her works of art would be enhanced by a strategic placement of a duck or a bunny at the forefront of the image. Not only was Mickey a keen artist, she enjoyed watching sports, and played both softball and 10 pin bowling. She had a love of travel, a sweet tooth that so many of us have inherited, and a love of curly hair, which not too many of us were blessed with. She had a warm spirit, smelled faintly of Nivea, and was a resilient and strong woman. This strength and determination has coursed through her often cold hands her entire life and has lead her to the humbling age of 90, and onwards to exist as her spirit-self in other facets of the universe.
She had gentle heart, with long sapphire ring covered fingers that love to point and flail around as she communicated. She had a sparkle in her eye that would light up the minute she laid eyes on the people she loved. She often comforted those by holding hands and blowing kisses. We will miss these moments of pure connection.
She is forever loved and greatly missed by; daughter Kim Crawford and husband Dale, children Brett (Lynn), Tory (Jacques), Jesse, daughter Jackie Dyck and husband Lloyd, children Chad, Erik (Jaclyn), Jayda, and Kali (predeceased, and who will be showing Mickey the way) , and daughter Jo-Ann Beck-Burkitt and husband Bob, children Bobbi-Jo, Codi, and seven great- granddaughters, also will be missed by her surviving brother David Balon and wife Cherry, and her brothers and sisters who have also passed (Roman, Jenny, Ann, Peter, Johnny and Eddy. Mickey will also be sorely missed by her best friend, Rose Webster.
With infinite love from your whole family and friends, it has been a pleasure walking this earth alongside you and sharing your warmth, energy, and curiosities.
The family will be having a private celebration of Mickey's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers you may donate to a charity of your choice.

  • Mickey was the mother of our close friend Kim. I have known her for 50 years and will never forget how warm and inviting she was towards us and the rest of our friends as teenagers from that first day. It was always a favourite home to go visit. My wife has not known Mickey as long as I have but share the same thoughts and feelings about her. She was such a fine person and we know how painful it is to lose loved ones like this. Our most sincere condolences to the family. With love and support, Gary & Caryl Cockshott - Posted by: Gary & Caryl Cockshott (Friend) on: May 28, 2022
