BETTY ANN LINTON

Her passing at St. Boniface Palliative Care wasn't sudden, yet it was so deceptively swift that we didn't really have the time to say goodbye.
Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Brent, daughter Dana (Jordan), numerous cousins, and a large circle of friends who are considered extended family.
Betty's adventure in marriage began in 1981 with two years in Saudi Arabia, punctuated by R and Rs to Europe and Africa. Motherhood materialized not long after: it turns out that five years as a stay-at-home mom wasn't enough time to prepare for the separation trauma of Kindergarten. She effortlessly combined parenting with a meaningful career at Child and Family Services, while also managing to plan regular group trips to Las Vegas, Mexico, and all over Europe, as well as organizing a constant round of family gatherings, dinner parties, and movie and concert nights. As an only child, Betty had an exceptional degree of empathy and concern for others, and her generosity knew no bounds. She regularly volunteered her time to causes she believed in which included various women's charities and local arts and cultural organizations. Despite a number of long-term health challenges, she knew how to seize the day, live in the moment, and keep the radiance in her smile. She lived the words of Leonard Cohen:

"Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."

Cremation has taken place. By way of celebration, Betty will host her final backyard party this summer and will take her last trip to Provence next spring, when the lavender fields are in bloom.

For 70 years it's been a great run dear girl, just over too soon. Fly with your angels.
Love you forever.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear Brent. I just heard today of Betty's passing and I wanted to reach out to you. You and Betty had so kindly taken care of our baby girl, Prada, the Yorkie several times while we went away. Betty would send us photos of her every day which I so looked forward to seeing. Betty was a lovely person and it was so sweet of her to do that for us. Prada loved going to your house so much that I often felt so terribly guilty about taking her away from you every time we came home and had to pick her up. It was so easy to tell how caring Betty and you were towards her and we never got to tell you both how much we appreciated that kindness. Unfortunately, Prada passed away at the end of December of 2019. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'd like to believe that Prada has found Betty and that they have rekindled their friendship somewhere over the Rainbow bridge, - Posted by: Debbie and John Bruneteau (Friend) on: Jul 18, 2022

  • So very sad to have to say goodbye to Betty. I hoped to meet up with her in St. Tropez but with the Covid travel shut down it didn’t happen. Condolences to both you Brent and Dana. My thoughts continue to be with you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Joanne (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2022
