LUCIE CUMMINS
(nee ENCONTRE)
With deepest sorrow, we announce that Lucie Cummins (nee Encontre) passed away at her home on May 29, 2022, with her family by her side.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Hugh Cummins; mother Cecile Encontre; two children, Racheal Gillon (Cory Hill) and Bruce Gillon (Courtney); grandchildren, Devin, Brendan, Hayley, Chris, Alex, Justin and Taryn; siblings, Denis (Lise), Rene (Cory), Gisele (Walter), Estelle (Ken), and Anita (Mike); Donald Gillon (ex-husband); many nieces and nephews; and her precious dog Shadow. Lucie was predeceased by her father Guy Encontre and niece Melanie McIntosh.
Born the eldest child of the family, Lucie began her life on December 13, 1957, in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. Ile Des Chenes was her home throughout her youth and early adult years. In 1975, Lucie married Don and they continued to live in Ile Des Chenes for a few years. They then moved to Winnipeg, where they raised their family.
The next chapter in Lucie's life led her to Hugh, who she married in 2016 and spent her remaining years, along with their dog Shadow.
Lucie had a passion for travel that took her all around the world with her favourite people and inspired her to open TPI Travel Agency. She was truly a glamorous lady with a flare for fashion. She delighted in shopping and helping others choose that perfect outfit or accessory.
Lucie's generous and caring nature was felt by all who knew her and she leaves special memories for each person she touched in her life. "When we lose someone, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind."
Special thanks to the Palliative Care team and the homecare staff from Southern Health Care for all their compassion and support.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church, 710 Roanoke Street, Winnipeg, MB, on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Transcona East End Community Club, 517 Pandora Ave. E., Winnipeg. MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Hugh Cummins, my heartfelt condolences to you. Cecile Encontre, I am so sorry that you have to grieve the terrible loss of your beautiful daughter. To her children and siblings, may God hold you all close to you during this time of mourning.
