RITA BUISSON
July 4, 1960 - May 12, 2022

It is with deep sorrow and regret that we announce the passing of Rita Buisson. Rita is predeceased by her mother and father, Jos, and Thérèse Buisson, as well as her nephew Brad. She leaves her daughters, Andrée Hébert (Amanda Klassen) and Danika Hébert, as well as her beloved fur grandson, Rufus. She also leaves her siblings and their families; Maurice and Lucienne, Paul and Marie, Yvonne and Paul de Moissac, Gilles, and Susan, as well as Joanne, Al, and Lorelei. She also had several "bonus kids and grandkids".
Rita loved spending time with her daughters and making special memories with them. She enjoyed travelling with them, whether it be a trip overseas, a road trip, or a camping trip. She never missed an opportunity to meet Danika at the airport when she had layovers in Kamloops, or to watch Andrée and Amanda's hockey games. She cherished time spent with her siblings and their families, especially playing cards at Christmas, and going to the cabin with her brothers and sister. Rita was passionate about her dragon boat team, the Spirit Warriors, and cherished the friendships she developed with her teammates. She was always excited to get out on the water to paddle, to attend festivals, as well as plan new events and fundraisers.
Rita had a large circle of close friends she met throughout her life. She was very caring and thoughtful, always taking the time to keep in touch with those she loved. Rita had the biggest heart and a genuine joy for life. She was exceptionally courageous and faced each new challenge and obstacle with a positive attitude. She will be forever loved by all who knew her, and forever in our hearts.
Rita's family is very grateful for the excellent care she received at the Kamloops Hospice. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 11, 2022, at Glen Eden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

- Posted by: Jeannine Buchannon (Former colleague ) on: Jun 08, 2022

  • Even though I have commented on this on Gilles' Facebook page, I want to send my sincere condolences to Rita's two daughters, as well as to her brothers and sister and their families (my cousins). Rita and I were extremely close as kids, having sleep overs at each other's houses, and sharing many secrets. Unfortunately we drifted apart as adults, each having our own lives, but I am so grateful she recently found me on Facebook and sent me a friend request, making it somewhat of a re-connection between us. She sent me a Happy Easter message on Facebook, one that I will truly cherish as little did I know this would be the last time we would communicate with one another. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the memorial service on Saturday, but you will all be in my thoughts. Gone way too soon, but she definitely left an unforgettable impression on those who had the privilege to have known her. RIP my little cous. Love you Forever. - Posted by: Lynne Johannson (Buisson) (Cousin) on: Jun 07, 2022

  • I first met Rita as my instructor in the Special Education Diploma program at TRU. She instantly wowed me with her wisdom and was so inspiring. I wanted to learn so much from her and be the kind of educator she was. I then had the privelege to reconnect with her when I came to work at the Henry Grube. Rita of course remembered me and took the time to reconnect and say hello. She was always so incredibly and genuinely kind. I will always remember her beautiful smile and her soft spoken voice. Her impact on me is just one example of how she touched everyone who had the privelege to know her in such positive ways. My deepest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Pamela Thomson (colleague) on: Jun 07, 2022

  • I had the privilege to have Rita on the team I supervised in the Kamloops/Thompson School district. Her passion for education and for serving the needs of students with disabilities was unsurpassed. As a registered school psychologist, her recommendations based on the test results changed the lives of students and improved their learning journey. Her sense of humour and fun will always be remembered by me. She was such a gift to our school district. Thank you for sharing her with us. She is truly one of the "good ones" gone too soon. - Posted by: Marilyn McLean (School District #73 Kamloops) on: Jun 07, 2022

  • I am so very sorry and heart broken in learning of Rita's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of Rita beginning when she was just a young girl on the family farm. Rita and the entire Buisson family treated me like family every time I visited the family farm. Rita was always the perfect host and always close by. I will miss her wonderful smile and presence. - Posted by: Gerry de Moissac (Family Friend ) on: Jun 07, 2022

  • I met Rita over 40 years ago when she first started dating Percy. We became friends instantly. Even though we didn’t live close enough to see each other often we always shared a strong and close friendship. When they lived in California, we enjoyed several visits together. Camping trips, midnight bowling and hiking. Very special times with her, Percy, the girls and my family. She had a joyous, pure, infectious laugh and had an wonderful sense of adventure and fun! She raised beautiful, strong and confident young women who were her world! She will forever be in my heart and so dearly missed! - Posted by: Suzanne Hyde (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • Loved having Rita as my sister, she was always there in case of need. Love the time we always had together, especially last month when we had a sleepover last month. Gone but not forgotten je t'aime beaucoup, beaucoup, beaucoup. - Posted by: Uvonne (Sister) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • I met Rita when she was visiting Andree. She was a beautiful lady and so gracious. Every time I hear of someone being taken away by cancer it hits my heart. - Posted by: Gordon Plunkett (Friend) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • Rita was one of those people who always seemed to make you feel like the only person in her universe when she was around you. Always a big wide smile on her face as she asked about your day, what’s new, how’s life, etc., and without fail gave the best hugs. She was an incredible lady who raised two incredible daughters and impacted so many lives seemingly coast to coast. She will be missed terribly and her loss felt deeply, but there is solace in knowing one day, a day that will come at different times for different people, the first thing that will come to our faces upon a memory or thought of Rita will be a smile rather than a tear. - Posted by: Ryan Plunkett (Family friend) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • I knew her family for a long time. So sorry to hear of your loss😢 - Posted by: Alice Parisien (Far cousin ) on: Jun 04, 2022

  • Danika, Andrè, and families, I have had so many wonderful "spontaneous adventures" with your mom. She has been the closest person to my heart I believe I have ever had. We have had so many hours of laughter, of antics, of hikes, walks, talks. I am very sad to have lost my dearest friend but I know she wants us all to be happy, positive, and loving life. We all must enjoy everything life has to offer as that is the way she wants us to live! God bless you all and thank-you for my time with your dearest Mom.
