DOREEN STEEVES
February 19, 1927 - May 30, 2022
Our Mom, Doreen Steeves, passed away peacefully in Penticton.
With someone so passionately positive about life, it is difficult to find a world without Mom. Doreen lived a long life that blessed us with so many wonderful memories, and all who knew her felt blessed as well.
Doreen remained steadfastly loving and compassionately supportive to those around her. She lived each day happily looking forward to tomorrow. In this time of loss, we have realized just how much we gained through her. Wherever she was, she attracted an incredible base of friends and adoring dogs. We all deeply miss and loved the person that all her dogs saw.
Doreen will always be lovingly remembered by her three children, her daughter Jayne; sons, John (Virgina), Jim (Phyllis). Doreen took pride in her five grandchildren, Kean (Brittany), Alexander (Ashley), Laine (Jesse), Nikki (Masi), Laura and her one great-grandchild, Lily. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Jack (2011) and son-in-law, Gerry (2021).
A service will be held at St. Barbara's Anglican Church in Okanagan Falls at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022 with refreshments to follow.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Doreen's honour at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Penticton SPCA.

Met the Steeves' family in 1965. Our parents built their new homes on Nightingale Rd. Both were on the same side of the street with one house in between. A life long friendship that year. Love of water was a must. Rented a large cottage at Victoria Beach for several years where both family's stayed at together. There was no end to get food and family activities. Lots of planning done by the moms. In the winter the St James YMCA was a must. Lots of times Mrs Steeves would be the one to get up early in the morning and drive us in her Volkswagon Beatle to our speed swimming classes. Then there were summers at Falcon Lake when both family had cottages. St James YMCA was still a go. Mrs Steeves you are in my heart. Jayne, John, Jim: so hard to imagine it was back in the early 1960s that we were next door neighbors on Magellan Bay. I had recently graduated from high school and was waiting to get into nursing. Your mom took me to one side and said you are our babysitter. Lots of memories there. She was such an enthusiastic person, so good to her kids and her heart was your school room. There's one thing that mothers can never teach us though "how to live without them." I can still hear her voice and her laugh. She is one person who I can honestly say lived her "Dash" to the fullest. My heart goes out to all of you. Grief is a journey and not a destination. - Posted by: Joy Buettner (Mahon) (Former neighbor) on: Jun 10, 2022

Our condolences to the family, Spending more time with Jim, was a continuous adventure. I also inherited one of the wonderful dogs, Kobe. Mrs. Steeves taught me to show and handle him; another wonderful memory and adventure. I truly enjoyed my time at the house on Nightingale. My parents and I remember the family. Prayers will continue you all during this time and beyond. - Posted by: David Hood (Friend) on: Jun 09, 2022
