THOMAS BROTHERSTON
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Brotherston Senior on May 26, 2022.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother George (Debbie), Maria, Roberta, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Dorothy, and brother Christopher.
At the age of 18, Tom immigrated to Canada from Rosyth, Scotland to work for the Hudson Bay Company in Fort Simpson, NWT. He ventured onto other business opportunities throughout his lifetime, making Sandy Lake, Ontario his home for the last 53 years. He worked hard to make Sandy Lake Seaplane and the store a success.
We would like to thank the First Nations of Sandy Lake, Ontario for all the love and support throughout this difficult time,
At his request, a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Tom trusted me to run Bighook camps for 2 weeks one summer when he visited Scotland, later I flew many guests in and out from Red lk. to Sandy Lk. He was the greatest guy, even gave me the new Air Manitoba Jacket off his back 😃 genuine hero of the North! RIP Tom. Thanks - Posted by: Roy B. moir (Friend) on: Aug 14, 2022

We got to know Tom as a real friend when he first started Big Hook with Harold Miller back in the late 70’s. Tom would take us out towards evening scouting for Bear in his plane and scare the devil out of my son (12) at that time with his sharp turns and low flights. We visited Big Hook every year after that (and still do) and became good friends. We’d see him less frequently after he sold the camp to Steve in the late 90’s but he was always still interested in our family lives. Tom was a true friend and I miss him greatly. Rest In Peace my friend!! - Posted by: Jeff Drexler (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2022

I worked as a nurse in Sandy Lake in the early nineties, and Tom's home and business were next to the nursing station. Tom would fly the nurses to other communities to have clinics and I always trusted Tom in the cockpit. Always appreciated his sense of humor and the only time I tried and enjoyed moose meat was a meal Tom created for the nurses. Thinking of Roberta and his family.
