LINDA ROSIE BARTLEY
Linda Bartley (nee Schultz) passed away on June 7, 2022 at the age of 89 with family by her side at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba.
Linda grew up in Niverville, MB with her parents, Herman and Martha, along with her siblings: Alma, Eileen, August, Doris, Herb and Lorna.
She enjoyed a traditional upbringing on the farm which included tending the fields and the family, as well as enjoying local pastimes such as baseball or hockey with friends. She'd often talk about the adventures of her childhood, such as navigating winter storms by horse drawn wagon when the family horse would decide to budge no further. Many times, Linda would have to hop out and gently guide him through the blinding snow to get to school.
After leaving the farm, Linda received her diploma with honours in Stenography from Success Commercial College in Winnipeg, MB in 1950. Linda's career as a secretary was always one of her proudest achievements and she worked for a variety of companies including CN Railway, Falcon Seaboard Drilling Company, and Trammell Crow.
In 1954, Linda married Rodney Bartley, and they began a life together which ultimately took them to Chicago, Tulsa and finally back to Winnipeg upon retirement. Despite the distance, Auntie Linda and Uncle Rodney were always close with the many nieces and nephews who'd visit the pair when they lived in Schaumburg or Oklahoma to see Linda and her bright yellow Camaro.
After retirement, Linda became a special Auntie to all of the family that she held so dear. She always made time and cared for the many young children in her family, providing them with guidance and loving support. Linda also held her friends close and maintained many lifelong friendships with everyone from neighbours to childhood friends. Coming together year after year to celebrate and share smiles as they would recount the changes in their families and lives.
Throughout her life, Linda maintained her hardworking, fastidious attitude and prided herself in the care she took in everything she did. This care was on full display at the end of her life as her suite was filled with letters, cards, keepsakes, correspondences and photos from a life well lived with the people she held so close and those who loved her.
Linda will be fondly remembered by the family and friends that she leaves behind, and will always hold a special place in the hearts of the many people who knew her as their special "Auntie" Linda.
