RITA EILEEN CAMPBELL
(LOISELLE)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Rita, on June 13, 2022, exactly one month before her 93rd birthday. She passed away at Creekstone Care Centre in North Vancouver. A special thank you to the nurses and caregivers at Creekstone for their exceptional and attentive care and support for Rita during her time there.
Rita is survived by her children, Matthew (Holly) Campbell of Montreal and Charlotte (Kevin) Kjernisted and her grandchildren, Bryn and Ben of North Vancouver. Rita was predeceased by her husband David in 2000, and her three siblings, Lionel, Herve and Helen.
Rita was born in Saskatchewan and spent her formative years in a small town just west of Saskatoon called Prud'homme. She later attended Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon. She married David Campbell in 1958 and relocated to Winnipeg where she raised a family and lived a full and busy life. In 2005 she relocated to North Vancouver to be close to her grandchildren.
She will be fondly remembered for her enthusiasm, initiative, vigor and spirit, and for her great sense of humour, and, of course, for her delicious apple pies.
At the end of every visit or time with Rita, she would say "Goodbye for now". So, goodbye for now Mom. We love you.
A private celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant House.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Charlotte and Mat, my thoughts and prayers are with you at Aunt Rita’s passing. I remember fondly your mom and dad, Uncle David. Visits were so lovely with your mom being a great host and cook. Your mom and dad were always so much fun, sharing stories with lots of laughing. My parents always enjoyed their bridge games with them and Aunt Molly and Uncle Jack. I’m sure they are all loving their bridge games in heaven. Peace. - Posted by: Sandee Campbell (Niece) on: Jun 26, 2022

  • Hello to Matt, Charlotte and families and so sorry to hear about Rita. My mother, Mary Gyles and Rita were best friends who met at Bedford Road in Saskatoon. Their future husbands became great friends as well. As a child, we always looked forward to the Campbell’s visits. Lots of laughs, great food and wonderful company. Rita was always dressed to perfection - the skirt lady, jewelry, hair impeccable. Many fond memories. Rita kept up her friendship with me of which I cherished from when I was a child. We talked frequently. She had a great life, great kids, great grandkids. Will miss her dearly. Love to all. Lizanne Clark (Gyles) and Bob Clark - Posted by: Lizanne clark (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2022

  • Funny how the mind reminds one now and then as I was just thinking of all of you the other day. Reminded myself to call and then noticed this obit. Joan and I want to let you know we are thinking of you at this time. So many memories of my 'perfect cousin.' Always so put together in her famous hats and outfits. I am thankful that we had many phone visits after she moved to Vancouver. She was so happy to be there and always talked about the grandchildren she loved very much. Rita was very kind and generous to our Mom after Ron died and took her under her wing while still in Winnipeg. We will always remember her positive attitude and sense of humour. She was a large presence and made the best of everyday. Take care and know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. She has now joined the many before her and I can see them all playing cards and arguing in famous 'Dupuis' fashion. Take care and please call when you have a minute.
