AGNES STEFANSON
May 3, 1926 - June 19, 2022

Peacefully, with family by her side, on Sunday, June 19, 2022, and after a courageous battle, Agnes passed away at the age of 96 years at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB.
Agnes was born on May 3, 1926 in Clarkleigh, MB, the youngest of ten children and the only one born in Manitoba (the family had just previously moved from Grayson, SK). She completed her education in Clarkleigh, then worked in Winnipeg, but missed the country and came back to work in Oak Point, MB. She married Stefan on August 6, 1949 and farmed in the Stony Hill District east of Lundar. She remained on the farm for the rest of her life until the last 34 days she spent in the hospital. She worked very hard on the farm inside and outside but enjoyed the work and the lifestyle. She worked along with Dad in the hayfield, milking cows and caring for the cattle which were very special to her.
Agnes was proud of her gardens and was always busy canning, baking, knitting and sewing. She had a wonderful good nature and always put the interest of others ahead of her own. She was always ready to give a hand to anyone in need and help out wherever she could.
She is survived by her son John, daughter Donna (John), nieces, nephews, special neighbours and many close friends.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Stefan, parents George and Eva Hartman, all of her siblings of four brothers and five sisters and all of her in-laws.
Cremation has taken place and an interment will be held in the family plot at the Stony Hill Otto Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses who helped Mom over the years. Special thanks to everyone at the Eriksdale Hospital for their wonderful care. Thank you to everyone for their expressions of kindness and also to John and Karen Gray of Arnason's.
Donations may be made in Agnes' memory to a charity of one's choice.

  • My deepest sympathy to John, Donna and John. Agnes was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met, and although I didn’t know her long she made a very lasting impression on me. My thoughts are with you as you go through this difficult time. RIP Beautiful lady - Posted by: Betty (Friend) on: Jun 25, 2022
