ALICE LILLIAN BATTEN
(nee JOHNSTONE)

January 6, 1923 – June 16, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend on June 16, 2022 at the Red River Valley Lodge, Morris, Manitoba at the age of 99 years.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, David Johnstone and Euphemia Lenton; husband Graham; sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary and Henry Alstadt, Jean and Herbie Zilkie; niece Sharon Enns and son-in-law Bill Hawryluk.
Mom was sweet and kind with never a harsh word for anyone. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sandra Hawryluk, sons: Allan (Gleness) and Kelvin; nieces: Rae Brooks, Joan (Tim) Connell; nephew Todd Zilkie; grandchildren: David (Cheryl) Batten, Karen (Mark) Trimble; great-grandchildren: Naomi, Graham and Tessa Batten, Sarah, Jenna and Davis Trimble, and special friend Kay (for doing jigsaw puzzles with her every Sunday).
Special thank you to Dr. Fraser and all the staff at the Red River Valley Lodge for the loving care, compassion and kindness given to our mother and family over the last three and half years, and to Morris Funeral Home.
As per Alice's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Green Ridge United Church, Greenridge, Manitoba; or the Red River Valley Lodge, Morris, Manitoba.
