DAPHNE WILLIAMS
It is with great sadness that we announce Daphne Williams passed away peacefully on June 17, 2022 at the Riverview Health Centre.
Daphne will be remembered by her sons, Randy (Diane), John, her daughter Diane (Paul) Dalkie and her granddaughters, Melissa, Morgan, Ashley, Laura, Katherine and her favourite grandson Shayne.
Daphne was predeceased by her sister Yvonne Gibben, brother Don MacGillivary, daughters-in-law Darlene Williams and Debbie Williams, and her childrens' father Larry Williams.
Daphne was born in Regina, SK and took her early schooling there. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BSc (HEc) in 1954 and shortly thereafter moved to Toronto to take a position with Canada Packers. She then returned to Winnipeg and over the years held many jobs from doing surveys for Statistics Canada to working at Snell's and Bassey's Pharmacy. She ended her working career working at Manitoba Lotteries, Crystal Casino and went on to enjoy a very active retirement. She kept busy with golfing, swimming, bridge, knitting, bowling and volunteering.
Mom was always upbeat and happy and her bright smile and personality led to many long lasting friendships. Mom was an avid sports fan and never missed watching her beloved Roughriders. Even in her last days she would call us to ask what channel a game was on. She was also a strong independent woman who found time to attend all of our activities while working and raising us on her own. Mom was a proud mother and grandmother, and her actions clearly demonstrated her deep love and commitment to her children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and a small private gathering will be scheduled at a later date this summer to celebrate her life.
Many thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Centre who cared for her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
NANNY
I hear you Nanny calling my name,
When I turn around to see
your smiling face,
You are not there.
For now you are in a better place,
We never thought this day would come,
But sadly now it is here,
No more pain or suffering,
No more heartache to endure,
We will terribly miss your adoring ways,
And all the special times we shared,
How you would call us "muttsy" and "dear".
Will forever remind us of all the
special times we shared.
The precious memories of you
just being there,
You watched over us
from the very beginning,
And were there throughout
everything we did,
So until we meet again Nanny,
In my heart I know that
you will always be near.

I have very fond memories of time spent with Aunt Daphne. Whether it was family get togethers as kids at the cottage on Clearwater, or backyard barbecues as adults we always had fun sharing stories. She was a very special aunt and will be missed. My condolences to Randy, John, Diane and their families. - Posted by: Gord (Nephew ) on: Jun 27, 2022

Randy, Diane and girls. Although we never met your mother we have heard some stories. Our thoughts are with you all at this time. This is never easy and brighter days are ahead. Thinking of you all during this time. - Posted by: Mark & JoAnn (Friend of Randy ) on: Jun 25, 2022
