ERNEST CAPRI

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing, after a short illness, of our much loved dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend at the age of 95.
He was predeceased by his loving wife June of 58 years, his siblings, Millie, John, Vera, Louis, Victor, and Angie. He leaves to mourn his sons, Craig (Gail), Wayne (Nancy), grandson Shawn (Rebecca), granddaughters, Wendy, Shannon (Jamie), Jessica (Graham), Lauren, great-grandchildren, Eve, Ella, Raine, Oliver, Emily, Aria, Logan, Greyson, and Lincoln, sister-in-law Audrey Kopachena, brother-in-law Dr. P. James Peebles (Alison), numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ernie was born in Winnipeg to Maria (nee Francisconi) and Antonio Capri. He held a number of jobs, including one at Russell Motors, an old Chrysler dealership where he met the lady he would marry in 1951. He retired from motorways where he won a number of driving awards including for one million accident free city miles. He loved his family, being happiest when surrounded by them. He enjoyed travelling, including numerous trips to Mexico, but loved the family cottage at Traverse Bay. One of his big interests were his paintings which he did on just about anything he could find including saws, bottles, pieces of wood and miniature teepees. He greatly enjoyed playing cards and there were many epic card games at the cottage. Dad spent a lot of time watching TV, notably westerns and Laurel and Hardy. He loved to cook and specialized in pastas and stir fries.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held June 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Boulevard. Officiating will be Pastor Jeff Romas. After reception, interment will follow at St.Vital Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ernest's name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
