It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather, Richard, on June 23, 2022 at the age of 81.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Joseph Helman; brother Camille Helman; and sisters, Diane Gauthier and Wanda Helman.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Scott) Dyck and Carla (Josh) Fisherman-Lalonde; and grandsons, Wyatt, Marshall and Benjamin. His stepson Dwayne (Debbie) Wenger and his granddaughters, Morgan and Brett. His sisters, Beverly Marion, Wendy McCloy and Sharon Helman. Many nieces and nephews.
Richard was born in January 1941 in Carman, MB and resided on the family farm until the family relocated to Winnipeg, MB. In 1984, Richard moved with his children to Flin Flon, MB where he worked for Northern Bulk and Gardewine North, retiring in 2019. In 2020 he moved to Regina, SK to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Richard enjoyed road trips, fishing and spending time with his friends and family. He had a wonderful sense of humour and loved making people laugh.
Many thanks to Regina Wascana Grace Hospice for their comfort and care in Richard's final days.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • You were always kind, always made me laugh, and never complained..... I hope you find ways to let your friends know you can bug them a little extra now. ;) And the bucket may have been kicked this time but My forgetter will always be broken where you are concerned. I will never forget you or the stories you shared. Always spoke highly and was super proud of his family. Even though he was quiet and shy with the feelers he never passed a moment to brag about his wonderful family. He was super proud and forever grateful. You will be missed my friend. Stacy your evening bud. :) - Posted by: Stacy (Friend) on: Jul 02, 2022

  • I am one of Richard's many cousins who now lives in British Columbia. He was very special to me but life happened. We unfortunately lost contact for a long time after my move from Winnipeg in 1970. However I was very blessed to have reconnected with him in my last visit to Winnipeg in 2018 before Covid hit. We made time to share a meal and were able to catch up on some of our journey over the years. He took me for a drive to Carmen to reminisce about the farm days & all the changes there. It was very special to me. We had planned on visiting each other again and staying in touch thereafter. However, Covid happened and a visit never really transpired but we did have several phone conversations which I am so very happy I had. Much love and condolences to the entire family on your loss from myself and my family. - Posted by: Sherrill Massey (Cousin) on: Jun 29, 2022
