DAVID ALEXANDER WALL
September 9, 1958 July 2, 2022
It is with deep and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother and uncle, David Wall.
David is survived by his mother Violet Wall, brother Tim (Don Rogers), nephew Jordan Wall, niece Elizabeth Kozak (Adam) and great-nieces, Rebekka and Abigail. David was predeceased by his loving father Edmund.
Born in Winnipeg, David received a PhD in Agricultural Sciences and worked for the Federal Department of Agriculture. David ended his illustrious career as Director of the Morden Research Station. A man of wide and varied interests he enjoyed nothing more than sitting at his computer conducting researching whether it was on Canadian art and artists or family history. He had a keen mind and was always looking to learn more. For those who knew and loved David he will be remembered for his dry wit and wry sense of humour, noble character, generosity, loyalty and most importantly as a kind and gentle man with a loving heart. He was a good man, who was much loved and will be greatly missed. Love you brother you will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.
The family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the St. Boniface ER and ICU departments for the compassionate care they provided to David and the family.
Donations in David's memory can be made to Doctors Without Borders.

My deepest sympathies on David’s untimely passing. He deserved a longer, richer retirement having dedicated himself so tirelessly to his work. He was a man of refined taste and character - a good man, indeed. - Posted by: Valerie Hall (Ex-wife) on: Sep 01, 2022

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. David Wall. I worked at Agriculture Canada at 195 Dafoe Rd. I was an technician there. He was very nice and he would attend the social committee's lunches that we put on. May he memory be a blessing to his family and friends. - Posted by: Debbie Stern (co-worker) on: Aug 20, 2022

Steve and I are so very sad to hear of David's sudden passing. We became good friends in Saskatoon, and always enjoyed our conversations with David about research and science, art, gardening, recipes, families and friends, and we shared many laughs and good meals together. He was a wonderful friend and neighbour, and a kind godparent. We were always hoping to have a chance to visit and reconnect. We cherish a lilac tree in our garden that was a gift from David, it has grown tall and strong and had an abundance of flowers this year. Our thoughts are with all David's family and friends. Sincerely, Sheila Catto, Steve Reid, Katie, Maggie and Lyra. - Posted by: Sheila Catto (Friend) on: Jul 16, 2022

David and Valerie, and my husband Ken and I were dear friends in Saskatoon. David and Ken were doing the great work of enhancing agriculture, and the four of us shared much personal time at concerts, sharing meals, enjoying each other's company. I am sure Ken was there to greet David in heaven, and together there is laughter and intelligent conversation. - Posted by: Linda Richards (friend from Saskatoon) on: Jul 15, 2022

It brings good memories to hear the name David Wall. He was in a director position at the Saskatoon Research Centre when I met him first. He was a truly caring person and interested in the humans he interacted with. It was very pleasant to have conversations with him because he shared, listened and had wit. Please accept my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Axel Diederichsen (Co-worker at AAFC) on: Jul 14, 2022

So sorry to hear about David's sudden passing. David was one of the friendliest persons that I have ever met from AAFC's new Science and Technology Branch. I got to know him when he visited our downtown Winnipeg office from time to time. David was always very kind, collegial, respectful and gracious to all workers, regardless of their rank or position. He had a great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy go out to his family. I was saddened to hear of David’s sudden passing. David and I were colleagues at the Saskatoon Research Centre. He was a great person to work with, always honest and forthright, and ready to find the middle ground. To say he was a kind and gentle soul is an understatement. Over the past years we kept in touch every few months – I will miss our interactions. Please accept my sincerest condolences. - Posted by: Kevin Falk (Colleague) on: Jul 12, 2022

Dear David’s family, I worked with David when he was the Director of the Research Centre in Winnipeg and I’ve never met a more kind and good hearted person. David was just one of those people who made you feel like you were the most important person in the room he was always very supportive but also had quite the sense of humour and I will really miss that. After David retired we continued as friends and I can remember one time coming in and visiting and he was telling me about his amazing family and all I could think of is he still that supportive generous person thinking of others before himself. It was with a heavy heart that we have lost a great person but heaven has gained a wonderful man. My sincere condolences on your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time - Posted by: Sandi (Friend) on: Jul 10, 2022

Dear Wall Family. We were shocked and saddened to hear of David’s sudden passing. He was far too young. Please accept our deepest condolences. David and I were good friends and co-workers at AAFC Saskatoon Research Centre. David was Assistant Director and I was Director at the time. He was a wonderful person to work with, a kind and gentle soul. He was smart, hard working, loyal and very good at what he did. He will not be forgotten. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Vi, Tim and Family. I am saddened to hear of David's passing. We were neighbours from birth for 23 years. Then, many years later, David came to work as the Director of the Cereal Research Centre on the U of M campus where I was working at the time. We had many adventures as children with our other friend Brent and I always remember you, your mom and dad (Vi and Eddie), and Tim with great fondness. Sleep well my friend. - Posted by: Joanne Schiavoni (Past neighbour) on: Jul 09, 2022
