MITCHELL T. MOSKAL
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mitchell Thomas Moskal, 65, of Winnipeg on July 7, 2022. He passed, surrounded by family, after falling ill 11 days earlier.
He is survived by his loving wife Rumelda, his sons, Collin and Tyler, his brother Robert and sister-in-law Shirley, his nieces, Kristen and Tenneille, his mother Bernice, brother Tim and sister-in-law Sharon, his mother-in-law Dorothy as well as his sisters-in-law, Lori and Aldene.
Mitch was born and raised in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood, alongside his brothers Robert and Tim under the loving care of his mother Bernice and grandmother Phyllis. Mitch graduated from Kildonan East Collegiate, losing his father Max a few years later. In these years Mitch developed a love for cars and trucks that stuck with him for all his life.
After high school, Mitch enjoyed spending time socializing with friends and family out at Dorothy Lake. Mitch spent time in Michigan visiting his aunt Darlene and his uncle Bob, with whom he was extremely close. Mitch inspired his cousins, Laura and Joe with his love of muscle cars. They recall him as being "the coolest guy you'd ever met".
Mitch married his first wife Allyson and soon after Collin was born. A year later, Mitch and Allyson welcomed their second son Tyler. Mitch took his sons on frequent fishing trips, returning to Dorothy Lake and later to the Pinawa River, instilling a love of the outdoors that both of his sons cherish to this day. Mitch also inspired a love of reading in his boys, and a do-it-yourself approach to household repairs that is shared by his sons. Mitch beamed with pride as Collin married his wife Stacy in 2020 and Tyler married his wife Sarah in 2021. Mitch welcomed his first grandchild Lola in October, travelling to Halifax to meet her and fulfilling a lifelong ambition to dip his toes in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Mitch married the love of his life Rumelda in 1994. His consummate life partner, Rumelda kept Mitch well fed through her skills as a baker, always having treats for him on hand. Their home was never quiet, as they loved many four-legged fur babies over their years together. When Mitch began to have health issues in 2019, Rumelda was his rock, providing him with the love and care that made his final years gratifying and treasured. It is because of her love for him that we can know Mitch is at peace, having passed away with the full awareness that he was loved and will be deeply missed.
There will be a celebration of Mitch's life on Thursday, July 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Prince Edward Legion 81, located at 300 Trent Avenue in Winnipeg.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mitch's passing. I new Mitch and Romelda from the Furnasman days back 40 years. Mitch was always there if I need a hand fixing ot installing something. We wouldn't see each other for years but if I needed a jug of Freon or he needed some electrical advice, we would get together and discuss it over a beer or two. And Romelda always was offering up something to eat after giving me a hard time for not coming over more often. One of those friends that was always a friend. After being away for a while, I learned of Mitch's passing looking for him for some gas piping advise. So sorry to you Rumelda. I'll try and come visit soon. He was a good man and friend! - Posted by: Larry Dale (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2023
