MARCEL MARION
December 23, 1953 - July 6, 2022
With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Marcel, age 68, in the early morning at St. Boniface Hospital.
The second son of Lucien and Denise (Beaudoin) Marion, Marcel was born in Winnipeg and raised in the community of St. Norbert. After high school, Marcel bought a franchise business with the dairy industry. No stranger to hard work, he soon built his clientele considerably, becoming the top salesman many years in a row. He continued to successfully operate his business until retirement in 2011.
Marcel met Allison in January of 1974, and by August that year they were married. After travelling for several years, they bought their first home in St. Vital and welcomed their son Michael. Marcel was ecstatic to become a father. A few years later, they settled into their second home in the community of Southdale.
Marcel was happiest when he was out in the fresh air tending to his lawn, or using his exceptionally green thumb cultivating a flower bed or a basket, either at home or at the family cottage.
The cottage life suited him: campfires, dirt bikes, quads, snowmobiles, BBQ's, and bocce ball tournaments were among his favourite activities. He watched with increasing pride as his son Michael excelled in sports and he was a faithful supporter at all Michael's games and tournaments.
Marcel was a generous and giving man, a proud father, and a supportive and loving husband. He had a quick wit, and an impish sense of humour and loved to play pranks, to the chagrin of his sisters. He cultivated many lifelong friendships through the years, and loved spending time with friends and family.
Marcel was predeceased by his father Lucien (1978), his sister Lucie (1949), his brother Olivier (Red) in 2011, and his mother Denise in 2011.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Allison (Boggs), son Michael, sisters, Lorette Rioux (Gilbert), Doris Girouard, and Gisele Gauthier (Lionel), as well as extended family members, Lorri Neilsen (Allan), Brian Boggs (Eileen Duffin), and Ron Andrews (Annette), plus numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.
Allison and Michael would like to thank Dr. John Rabson for his care and compassion over the years. Marcel had been hospitalized several times, but the strength of his will and his heart persevered. We are grateful for the efficient and prompt care Marcel received at St. Boniface and Victoria Hospitals. We wish especially to thank the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service for their quick response and their immediate, thorough and persistent care.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or The Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences at St. Boniface Hospital.

I grew up 2 houses away from Marcel in St. Norbert. I remember how much fun we had together as kids. Once we got to be teenagers we were a handful together. Marcel was so genuinely funny. His jokes and stories kept us laughing. Marcel was very kind with his time and money. Always the first guy to offer to help you when you needed it. When my father died I was thirteen years old. Marcel stepped up to help my Mom and I. I will never forget his kindness and I will never forget him! - Posted by: Wilmar Chopyk (Friend) on: Jul 16, 2022

It breaks my heart to see this as I know how close everyone is to Marcel. He will always be one of my favorite cousins since childhood. Always took the time to talk. Wish we could have had one more conversation. Sending my prayer and love to all. - Posted by: Darlene Skimming (Cousin) on: Jul 16, 2022
