STEPHEN (BUD) HIGGINS

It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Bud Higgins on July 7, 2022.
Bud will forever be remembered by his loving spouse of 23 years, Joyce, his two children, Rick (Maria), Rod (Liz), and grandchildren, Meghan, Sean and Justin. Bud was predeceased by his first wife of 39 years, Geraldine (nee Ermel) in 1995.
Bud lived a long and full life. He was born and raised in Regina and travelled the world while serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, having received several service medals after five years of service. Upon returning home to Regina, Bud and Geraldine married and started their family.
It was also during this time that Bud began his career at Burns Meats, retiring as plant superintendent in 1996, after 41 years of service. Bud was conscientious and extremely hard working, and forged numerous long-lasting friendships with his colleagues and co-workers at Burns.
Upon retirement, Bud and Joyce looked forward to their annual winter retreat in Mesa, Arizona. Bud truly loved spending time in the sun, playing slo-pitch and golf. Both he and Joyce made wonderful friendships here, marked by many fun times.
Despite health challenges over the last several years, Bud remained curious and enquiring, enjoyed spending his time reading and with his family. Known as "Pie" to his three grandchildren, he especially enjoyed hearing what they were doing and took great pride in the paths each chose in life.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Brian Sharkey, who provided exceptional and compassionate care to Bud. We so appreciate the numerous home visits, phone calls and genuine caring that Bud received.
Per Bud's wishes, cremation has taken place. Private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada are greatly appreciated.
