CLAUDE MERRITT
August 13, 1944 – July 6, 2022

It is with heavy hearts, we announce Claude passed away after a brief illness at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 77 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Dorinda Merritt; daughter Kim Koop and grandchildren, Madison Koop and Walker Koop (Alexandra Penner); brother Clyde Merritt (Pat Carman).
Claude worked many years as a manager for the trucking company Penner International. After his retirement, Claude found his calling and drove school bus on a part-time basis. He enjoyed transporting the children to and from school, as well as driving for chartered events such as Bomber Games and concerts. His face always lit up when he was surrounded by young people.
He enjoyed many trips to Fountain Hills AZ, the Grand Canyon and Disneyworld, where special memories were made with Dorinda, Kim, Madison and Walker. He could not be prouder of his grandchildren and participated in many milestones in their lives.
The family would like to thank neighbours Kevin and Brenda Antonyshyn and Dennis and Elaine Schultz for their extra care and help with Claude over the past several months. Special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Victoria Hospital, ensuring Claude was comfortable in his final days.
Claude's favourite movie was Wizard of Oz and he was able to enjoy the movie before he passed. The last line of the movie is "there is no place like home." You are now home Claude, with no broken body. We are sure you are already driving bus and bringing all the children to their fun activities.
In keeping with Claude's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a service.
