DALE EDWARD SCOTT
1941 - 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Dale Edward Scott, while in hospital, in Winnipeg on June 6, 2022. Dale was 81 years old.
Dale resided in Winnipeg, Manitoba, almost exclusively for his whole life, with only a short time lived in Toronto, Ontario.
Dale is survived by his partner Susannah and his four children: Ron (Greg), Darren (Kathy), Tracy (Gary) and Rebecca, and his grandsons, Kyle and Kent (Victoria). Also mourning are Susannah's children, Marina (Isaac), their children, Emma, Victoria and Carolina; Patrick (past partner Julia) and their children, Jonah and Charlie. Additionally, numerous other nieces, cousins, relatives, and countless friends.
Dale was predeceased by his first wife Carol Lee Scott (Weldon) and his sister Joanne and her husband Jim.
Dale was born in Winnipeg and spent a very happy childhood in St. James. Dale loved sports from an early age, spending summers playing baseball and winter on the ice playing hockey - his first love. Dale excelled at hockey for his size (5'7") and weight (130 pounds), receiving an invitation to try out for the Boston Bruins. Dale chose to instead become a teacher, with a highly circuitous route to securing his degree. Dale started his career teaching in Toronto for only a couple of years, then returned to Winnipeg to work with the Winnipeg School Division. During Dale's long and illustrious career, he was a teacher, principal, director of the Diagnostic Learning Centre, Director of Special Education and a mentor to many teachers and colleagues. Dale had a particular passion for working with Inner City school teams, families and community partners.
When not in schools, Dale loved to spend time with his family - particularly on long road trips or camping.
Dale was a gentle, kind, caring and humble family man who will be missed by so many.
A celebration will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Donations: please make any donations in Dale's name to charities Dale chose to support: Siloam Mission, Harvest Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba and any youth serving agency in the Inner City. Make a donation to

Becky, So sorry to just hear of your loss. Your father was a wonderful man and a true advocate for children! I learned from him and from you as a student. Take care - Posted by: Michelle McGowan (I taught Rebecca! ) on: Sep 17, 2022

Tracy, I didn`t know your father very well and only seen him a few times. I believe your Dad instilled in his children a set of morals that have been used throughout the years. He was a family man and he attended many of the sporting events the kids were in. Words can`t express the sorrow I feel for you, your siblings and extended family. May he RIP . . . - Posted by: Sandra Jones (Sister in law to Dale`s daughter Tracy) on: Aug 25, 2022

I am sad to see a man I respected pass. He certainly was a mild-mannered thoughtful man who encouraged others to do well. I have such fond memories of Dale from days at Cecil Rhodes School. Our kids were about the same age so we swapped stories taking turns bragging about the wonder of being dads. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jack R King (friend staff member) on: Jul 23, 2022
